finally got the pics!

Like I said, my buddy forgot his good video camera and the only shots were caught with my brother's foto camera between runs. It was too cold and rainy to consentrate on good poses, so we just snapped shots whenever we got a chance. Those jackass's barely caught any shots of my GP in action, but here go's...

my brother's 71 Skylark (stock 350), buddy Ben's 69 Cutlass (455 4spd), buddy Zach's 73 Vette (dying 454 4spd)

And here are the long awaited videos:

Cutlass decimates my GP. Ben's quite proud of t his one. 13.5 Ben, 14.1 me, forgot it in 2nd off the line, bad traction, 2sec reaction time. Listen for Zach's comentary at the end...

The Cutlass and Vette race... Cutlass can barely hook in 3rd, runs a 13.5 @ 107mph. The Vette's puffing smoke, about to explode.

GP vs my buddy Fred's 84 Camaro... Not my best run, ran too cold, bogg off the line, couldn't catch traction... 13.2 @103mph.

Hi so do your converter flash at 3000?
I'm really not sure... I've never truely observed it, but I believe it flashes around 2300 or 2500 rpm at full throttle right out of the hole.

Hmm hard to say pal the bog off the line too me is the converter.I know this from my car friends truck we build and put a vega converter out of a 4 cylinder in the th350 and tryed it. the truck had a bog the converter only brake stall at 2500 and flash at 2900 the truck would fall on it face. The engine power band is 4000 to 7200 so i order a redneck converter to stall at 3900 and flash at 4200 it was night and day in a engine.I think the converter is 1 of the most important things when it come to the engine operating rpms.

no, the bog is from the cold... When the engine is up to temp, it doesn't bog, just goes.

cool videos..love the gp

I know you said it bogged, but if you had a 3000 stall converter, you should try holding it closer to that stall speed to launch better. Judging from the sound of the exhaust note against the camaro, you were nowhere near that rpm. Also, try throwing those slicks down to 8psi to 10psi and see what happens when you launch from a higher rpm closer to stall. Keep pluggin away at it, youll eventually get it to hook and hit the high 12s.

good observations Eddie...

I didn't get my linelock installed, so I dialed down the proportioning valve on the rear brakes so I can do proper burnouts on the slicks. I tried to stall it higher, but tires would break traction anything past 1600rpm.

I'm also starting to think I may not have a 3000rpm stall... it seems to engage way too early, and it doesn't flash very high, only about 1800rpm at full throttle off the line.

I wish I could take the slicks down to 8psi... I can't afford tubes and I'm running straight tire. Apparently running anything lower than 15psi on straight slicks is iffy... so I was pushing it with 12psi, :? ha ha.

I've got all winter now to plot out a better suspension setup too... I've gotten alot of tips on relocation control arms that help put traction to the rear. I'm gonna pull off that front sway bar and try to find some skinnies I can run at the strip.

... now it's becoming a juggling act of trying to keep it street friendly, and all out drag... It's too bad you can't mix the two to make a great corner carving machine that hauls like heck down the strip too.

btw... I was thinking of the belt idea, pulling all off and running a small belt for the water pump... how the heck would I tention it or even get it on just the water pump and crank pulley?? :wtf:
