Upper Control Arm Bushing Advice?

I bought the upper control arm bushing tool from autozone. They had to special order it out of their tool book. Or you can rent the tool from advance auto. Its a $129.99 deposit. But I went ahead and bought the tool. Made things real simple. I say do it yourself.

jack furriers here in tucson tried to charge 1300 for what midas tried to charge you 700 for. i think i might have needed soem thing else, but these places love rippin people off.

Those places suck. We had "Great Bear' here and I don't care if you went in with a fresh suspension, they tried snowing you for ball joints and bushings. Get the tools, do the research, and have at it. Do everything at once and have peace of mind. It's just grungy and dangerous, but not rocket science. The key is the spring removal/replacement. Dangerous is an understatement, but with the tools and the talent, and a safe place to work, totally doable. Plus for $700 you can buy ALL the parts, ALL the tools, and enough beer and pizza to get several friends to come help.

if you are going to change the bushings to poly make sure the shaft isn't pitted with rust. If it is it'll wear the poly bushing in a matter of months...I learned that the hard way... 😳

I love the poly's but what the heck? At first they were quiet, then after the first winter sqwueeeeky as hell, now they are quiet again!?!?!? I used plenty of the special grease.

I find the only bushings that squeaked where the front uppers. All the other poly bushings in the lower front control arm and the uppers and lowers in the rear have a inner metal sleeve and they have never made a noise. I run UB Machine uppers now and all the bushings are quiet
