Ya so far. My concern is the wheel bearings, they are little. I've just been keeping an eye on everything for wear and will replace as needed. If I keep it long enough I will work on a 5 lug conversion for the front as well.

i'm dying with laughter over here, but in a good way.. i had a similar idea, but with an old, 1st gen escort (obviously more work, since they're FWD).. but this is awesome on a whole new level and i love it hahah.. now i want 1 to put my 305 and a 4 or 5 speed in

and as for the fab work you've done, i've seen FAR, FAR worse.. all that matters is you're trying, you're experiencing and most importantly, it's not falling apart on the highway lol.. there is actually a turbo header for the ford 2.3T's that looks a lot like your headers.. i say don't ever get rid of it and just keep improving on it, it's too awesome to watch someone else drive off with

Now that my computer is fixed, again, I can get caught up. The engine is back in with the new to me 2004R and i'm getting painfully close to firing it up. I'm just gonna post what pics I have to bring this up to date.

Nothing major here, just a a shot of the block after tear down, ready to get painted....white.

And here's a couple shots of the assembled long block.

Transmission attached, getting ready to go in.

Set in, waiting on a modified crossmember.

Starting to add more pieces.

After much debating about whether to modify the stock crossmember or build one from scratch, I decided to simply move it back to compensate. I only had access to thin wall box tubing so I ended up sliding 3/4" box inside of 1" and welding them together. I'm a tad concerned but I think it'll hold.

New header design this time around. My welds still suck, but the pipes are all notched nicely this time and they should flow better than before( wish I would have used nice mandrel bent tubing throughout but oh well).

And this is how it sits now. You can see how the new exhaust will be routed. The headers will also get wrapped when i'm done. More pics to come.

Thats pretty creative with the exhaust. Im glad you kept this project because thats gonna be a fun car when its done.

I like your newly designed exhaust manifolds far better than your old set up and yeah your welds still suck

Thanks guys. And ya I like the new design better too. The other ones with the shorty plugs never actually caused any problems but I still never liked it. I'm just not really looking forward to plug changes with the new setup lol.
