Thanks for the compliments.

Actually Brian doesn't have a shop. That was just the guy talking in the vid's neighbor's 'barn'. Him and his neighbor co-own the lift and are very good friends.

I actually thought it was Brian documenting (and narrating) the swap. At any rate, you were lucky to have access to a well equipped facility. It looks like the swap went well and without a hitch.

Brian was the narrator in the very beginning when I still had the 350 in the car. Our friend John then took over for the rest of the vid since Brian wasn't there. Yes it's nice to have a well equipped facility to work in not to mention good friends giving me a hand. Can't wait to redo the carb this Friday and get her running flawlessly.

congrats man, looks n sounds damn good

That looks and sounds great! What kind of times do you expect/hope to get out of it?

Mid to low 12's. Just a fun street car.

damn ! I ran across a olds diesel 350 engine the other day at the yard... didn't even know about 440 swap!! :| I looked at it and said "eh no good".... gonna go back and see if it's still there. Are you going to install the ccc carb well? so what is needed to do a 440 build if I manage to get my hands on the olds diesel 350? I'll do research but if I you don't mind...

Building a 440 out of a diesel block is expensive. For the level of performance I wanted I could've just did an Olds 455 instead. Would've performed equally well and been cheaper. I went with the 440 instead because the guy who build it for me builds them all the time and is very skilled in this particular engine so I trusted him. I also wanted a small block instead of a big block ( for various reasons ) but since I wanted big cubes, I felt the 440 was the ticket. The way it's built now, I could spray it with a big shot of NOS and still feel confident it will stay together ( if I were inclined to actually spay it ).

In a nutshell, a 440 build requires some minor block 'alterations' since it's being converted to gas, custom pistons, different rods ( I forgot what was used but they weren't the stockers ), and a forged big block crank out of a 425. The work that goes in the crank alone cost around $900+. It ain't cheap but it's totally badass and it's not a goddam SBC!!!

Are you planning to use the CCC carb and system? Is that even possible?

No. That's been deleted already when I had the 350. This new engine wouldn't like the CCC system but with enough skill one could get it to run on it I suppose but it would probably always be plagued with weird issues.

So is the distributor cap! I guess I'm running a Bowtie in my Olds! Anyone want to buy a 440 for cheap?
