Helping a friend with his 71 GTO.
He got taken to the cleaners by a couple of shops and I am trying to straighten things out for him.
Doing a lot of undo/redo work.
Anyway to make a long story short, during one of his first test drives drives, wrecked the car.
We found: loose ,broken and missing wheel studs. Also had the wrong nuts that were bottoming out causing a "false" tight.
He was very lucky for someone who lost a wheel, r/f came off.
So far the estimate for repair is over 20k!
My rule of thumb for lugs is, check once a day for the first week, one a week for the first month and monthly thereafter.
Take 2 minutes and could save your life!
