RUN!!! Haven't you heard the old adage " if you want to know what she'll be like, look at the mother"?
Seriously, WTF, does the house need that she got her panties in a wad? I doubt she made it up; the wife had to plant a seed.
Agree with the second part, definitely not the first part.

What is the alleged problem with the house? Maybe you should start spending all your spare time and money on coke and strippers. She'll forget all about the wagon.

Blow it off - it will only cause problems that will escalate. Someone has to be the better person. As long as you and your wife are on the SAME page (she's not feeding Mom stories) that's all that maters - Who cares what others think. She did hit a tender spot !

Thankfully my MIL thinks I'm the best thing since sliced bread. I have seen horror stories, though. I can just imagine your plight. As long as you and your wife are satisfied with how your lives are going, do your thing and tune out the background noise (MIL's bullshit).

Check it out though, there is discussions on de-criminalizing consensual sexual business transactions. I see that as opening a can of worms, since there will be unintended consequences. There will be a lot more divorces, for one, I would surmise. I can see it now- "Honey, your Mom is a pain in my *ss! I'm going to take the car down to the service center and get the tires rotated and get a BJ after that to relax. Need anything from the store while I'm out?" At least that keeps them from weaponizing the one thing men can't seem to do without.

There are two kinds of people, thinking people and feeling people

Thinking people think about what they say before they say it, they think if what they are going to say is beneficial to the conversation, if needs to be said, if it's going to strengthen or develop a discussion to better peoples lives, if it's no they keep it to themselves

Feeling people feel something and blurt it out because thats how they feel.

Feeling people tend to get along with feeling people, thinking people tend to get along with thinking people, but when the two mix it's not always pretty.

People in general think cars are either a) nothing more than a transportation appliance or b) a status symbol to show off how well you are doing
It's hard to show people that a fun car (of any type) is a transportation appliance when you have more than one or a symbol of how well you are doing when it's old and "cheap"

Just say it's got sentimental attachment because it's been in the family along time treat it like a an old set of fine china or a cabinet or something. Connect it to feelings on how it makes you feel connected to something regardless if its just because you think its cool.

I know I’m not going to change her, and she’s probably not going to stop popping off and making rude comments. I just was sick and tired of just sitting there and taking it all of these years.

I’ll just put it this way. The conversation ended with her crying, and me with me head held high. I would have been on the road driving home afterward if I hadn’t left the car keys in the house. My father-in-law and my wife came out and said “she’s really upset.” I was kind of like, “So? Not my problem. I don’t have anything to apologize for.” I finally went back in, and she kept prodding and trying to provoke me. So I said, “Okay, you want to hear it? Back the f**k off, and don’t interfere in our marriage anymore.” Yeah, like that’s going to happen. But I got a lot of things off my chest, and she knows if she’s just going to come over and nit-pick our decisions and house, she’s going to be asked to leave.

Does she have allergies? Maybe get 8 or 10 cats, plant cottonwoods, and start selling peanuts and shellfish out of the front yard.
