Weird shifting

I have no idea what transmission is in the car. I just got the car within the last month and it's basically been sitting while I wait to get the title back from the state (my grandmother lost the original). So as soon as that is taken care of it's going for full fluid change.

How do I know what transmission it has?

Is it a 4 speed or 3 speed?

If it is a 4 speed, you can ruin the trans if the cable is not adjusted properly.

If it is a three speed it wont be that bad, since the cable does not control the line pressure.

If it is a three speed I beleive it uses governor or a vacuum modulator, or both??? Not sure. Those are what will control when and how the car shifts on that trans. There shou;d also be a vacuum line running to the trans, check the condition of that. I am not sure how to test the other components I mentioned earlier.

No, if it an 85 like in his sig, it is just as bad as with a TH200 4R. it would have a TH 200C, NOT a TH350C. The 350 uses vacuum, the 200 does not.

It's a 3 speed. 1st, 2nd, the Drive ... no overdrive that i'm aware of.
