What brand motor oil are you running in your G Body

presently VR1 10w-30, but i'm looking at MOB 1 as they say it does have enough ZDDP. i wonder what my oil pressure would be with the MOB1 5w-40 diesel oil? this way i can run the same oil in both cars.

Hey TC1959..... I went to Mobil 1's website here: http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/Mot ... x?option=2

& plugged in my vehicle info & they recommended their mobil 1 extended performance 10w30 for my 1985 305 v-8 elcamino. Could this suggest that this particular mobil 1 has adequate amount of zinc additive for our G-bodys?

I'm using Valvoline VR-1 20w50 racing oil. However I also have a hydraulic roller. In the other cars with standard flat tapes we use just about anything. Never had a problem with the zinc levels.

it comes down to availability for me... Most of my vehicles are high mileage, so they get Mobil1. I change oil much later than the recommended 5000km/3months, and I find the quality synthetic holds together that much longer.

my GP needs 20w50, and since Mobil1 doesn't make that anymore, I've had to switch to AMSOil there.

for my truck, which sutts up quickly due to regular low rpm driving, I'm gonna convert back to regular crap oil, and change it every 5000km.

I really stand by AMSOil and Mobil1 brands... I've done lots of research, and they come out ontop for me. Valvoline VR-1 is up there too, but just not as available near me.

Good oil is only as good as the filter..I use Wix or Napa Gold, made by Wix
