What brand motor oil are you running in your G Body

very good point... for some reason, everyone raves about Fram here, and it's crap... Paperfilter, falls appart in your oil.
... AMSOil rates their oils to 25,000kms, if used with their filters. The filters have better filter elements and better gaskets, and better overall construction.

Mobil1 used to also garantee their oil to 25,000km. But when sales started to hurt, they pulled the garantee.

I've also heard good things about Wix filters.

Castol gtx 10/40 I change it every 2 months neveer had a problem..mild build on 305 run it hard

Thank's for that chart Steve. Looks like a scored when I loaded up on the Mobil 1 15-50 at a closeout sale. No cam problems after all these years.

I tracked that down cause I was under the impression Mobile1 didn't have ZDDP in it...I was wrong

What about a new engine? Ive heard tell that using synthetic oils in new engines can create ring sealing issues... opinions?

MOBIL 1 EXTENDED IN EVERYTHING. CHANGE DD'S EVERY 3K. THE ONES THAT SIT GET FRESH OIL ONCE A YEAR. I EVEN HAVE MOBIL ONE IN MY SNOW BLOWER.

id like to know as well as i just bought 5qts of Valvoline VR1 Synthetic 10w-30 to put in my new motor didnt want to run the 20w-50 on the fresh motor, figured the 30w would be better till the first oil change. let me know if i am wrong here.. i have not yet done it though. i know im better off with the roller cam i installed though

Honestly, I run cheap 20w50, advance brand usually. I have a very broken in cam, motor is unknown high mileage... With the very sludged mistreated 307 I ran Castrol Syntec to clean it out.
