I would say if the fuel is actually boiling over in the carb because it is too hot then you would have driveabilty problems like it won't start after you shut it off after driving awhile, stalling or hesitation. As long as you have checked the float levels correctly, made sure there are no sticking needle and seats, your fuel pressure is not too high or unregulated with too strong a pump. make sure you have done all these before buying a spacer. But regardless a good insulating spacer will always help keep the carb cooler.
It definitely had issues starting when it would sit for more then 15 mins. And it would run like sh*t and smoke black until I ran it down the road for a bit. First thing I did was try a Holley fuel pressure regulator and it made no difference. Not sure what Psi it ran at its been to long. But I called Holley several times and I even took it apart and replaced everything that came with the rebuild kit. And still did not make a difference so a carb spacer is my last ditch effort before buying a new carb.

we had a problem similar to that on our superstock, we shielded the fuel line from the engine heat and it was cured..

how hot does the engine run and where did you route your fuel line?
It would run between 185 and 190. Fuel line ran from the stock position on the right side to the pump and ran from the pump to the regulator mounted on the right inner fender and back to the carb away from heat sources.

When it is cold how well does it start?
How long can you drive before you experience driveability problems?
What exactly does it do when it starts acting up?
Do you have a mechanical fuel pump and how about some pictures of your fuel line routing?

at that temp it wouldn't be your fuel boiling...we would hit 230-240 before the fuel would boil

I had heat protective tape on any spot that was exposed to heat but dont think it helped at all.

I'm going with either excessive fuel pressure, float levels too high or needle and seat not sealing, at the temp your running a spacer won't solve anything.

Not doubting it one bit but it has been awile since it has ran. I will find out soon enough if it still does it.

Man, with no exhaust crossover that carb should be cool as a cucumber. I have to go along with the fuel pressure/float level guys.
