I do love my demon 1900 625cfm.
Probably too much carb but it can be tuned easily for lower displacement. It has a secondary flap for the massive rear barrels. The primary ones are really small and combined with the secondary flap it gives a lot of initial grunt. It gets loud at wot.
Mine's on a 307 olds. I got it because I wanted something to work with my 307 now and be able to work on a 350 I'm building.

Best of all its Pretty damn cheap as far as brand new carbs.

The quadrajet that was put on at the factory was picked for the engine by engineers and it lasted decades so for a stock engine why do you want to experiment with a different carburetor. I would get a quadrajet that is the same as what the engine originally came with.

Because quadrajets don't look as pretty lol

Another vote for going Q-jet. Running a Holley 600 cfm for years, I recently went back to a Q-jet. So far I'm pleased with the results.
