i did the same, lol. Don't change that top. It's different, so maybe you should look into it's rarety. It might be worth alot of money to someone...

still the point is either you have some godly cutlass collectors item or a piece of junk someone put together in their basement or garage if you will.

Question; that roof is real correct? there are no 1/4 windows on the inside?? and how much did you pay for this?
:lightsab: <<<this is THEsweetest smilie yet

I'd say keep it,take pics of the interior 1/4 windows and look at the rpo code listing in the trunk and the vin, that'll show some evidence to wheter its real or just something the owner(s) had installed in a body shop custom for them.BTW i've seen a 1986 olds cutlass salon "custom",never heard of that in my life, nor crown coupe either. The seller of the cutlass salon custom had no evidence to point out thats it "very rare",or even that such a model exists, the seller just has a pic of the interior trim piece with the emblem "custom" glued in the middle of it.People these days....

theres no windows, but can see where there go on the inside, has some type of thing, easier to take pics(which i will tomorrow), price was right,i paid 500, it has buckets, console and the factory gauges, but apart from being ugly, floors and trunk pan are mint , ill get pics tomorrow after i clean it up some

A while back I remember a thread about some stainless or alumninum strip installed on an earlier version of cutlasses (78-80?) Was suppose to be a dealer installed option I guess. The guy was trying to sell it I believe. I want to say someone in Wisconsin knew something about it. Very rare. I kind of like it, but wonder how it would look minus that vinyl portion of the top. Sorry I'm too lazy to look for the old thread.

See if you can get a hold of a guy named Charley Buehner aka "Oldsmagnet" . You might be able to get in touch of him thru here: http://oldsgmail.com/

He's bought and seen some real on-off Cutlass and he might just know about it or how to find some info on it. He's also got a website of his own: http://oldsmagnet.com/ but I'm not sure if he still maintains that site.

btw 82, no SPID in the trunk. I too recall some talk about stainless trim and as I recall it was the 78/79 "Buttless" Cutlass Salon. The option has a very Canadian ring to it .... is it a 305 car?

btw if there truely are no rear windows .... I think it's safe to say this is factory?
