Reminded my boss of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 after repeatedly being forced to perform tasks that cause great physical pain as well as notable damage to my neck when it was 100% avoidable. It's been repeating for a month and his solution is to offer me the worst position in the plant instead of having someone prepare just one certain part for shipping. I've been working Quality Assurance (which is a JOKE @ Anchor Fab, Ks!) for a while now after being pulled from the paint booth due to my injuries (which they initially lied about but have admitted to my supervisor), so they're fully aware of what they're doing. This is stacked atop a litany of other illegal, immoral, and just plain stupid practices.
This was the fresh breathing air supply hose for powder coat painters that I shared with others, and the booth has 2 of them. Both hoses had numerous holes and we were told for months that "we looked, they were out" so I taped them up since nobody else would. When new hoses arrived they were in a bookcase in the plant manager's office so I broke in and replaced them myself.

Same hoses still in use ( 20 hours per day) 3 months later:

The company went from cutting lumber next to MEK soaked rags and the fire cabinet...

To also having enough fresh MEK to fill your bathtub. Cabinet is just out of frame.

Today there's just as many of those 5 gallon cans empty (well, almost empty) and OPEN but I forgot to snap a pic. Eddie Koehler, plant manager, supposedly used to be a firefighter so he ABSOLUTELY knows better. They've also modified part of a fire suppression system to be NON OPERATIONAL in the powder storage room containing thousands of pounds of flammable/ explosive plastic powder containing isocyanates. I have video but am unable to post it currently. Basically, they've overridden the part that keeps a gigantic garage door closed to contain a fire since the powder dust kept tripping the safety. If they'd ever clean the room it wouldn't be an issue.

The booth is in its own room, the entire floor gets covered in powder, and that mop water containing micro plastics goes directly down the drain in the mop closet. The big floor cleaner that a person rides and drives used to be dumped into a storm drain that read "No dumping. Goes directly to river" but now Eddie's company just dumps it on the ground.
We recently had 7,000 gallons of EXTREMELY pH Basic water due to a supervisor's mistake, and it was so toxic we couldn't get a reading with our gear that the EPA makes us use. That water was diluted and dumped- about 20,000 gallons of it.
This is next to my station at Q.A. and you're seeing condensation runoff from the HVAC units above the bathroom, office, and break room.

All I need is to NOT perform this one task which contorts my entire spine into positions it just can't accommodate- I require no special attention. Me refusing to perform said task yesterday nearly ended in a blowout between the new "crew leader" and I. A conversation with my supervisor this morning went nearly nowhere but ended with me receiving assistance from another man they wish to run off... one who suffered a crushed pelvis years ago and is severely limited. They put the two oldest, broken down men in the building on a job nobody likes doing even though we struggle. Then they complain and "joke" about it. I was the Golden Boy not too long ago but that's how the Cool Kids operate a business- extremely fickle.
The plant manager is making the decisions and his actions towards me constitute punishment for having physical limitations, seeing as how the offered position is more menial, dangerous, and physically demanding. He knows it would be very difficult for me and is trying to run me off because I call out abuse when I see it. And this place abuses the hell out of us, especially those on Work Release. They do this to people OFTEN and laugh while doing so. If they don't like your haircut they'll make your entire shift hell until you quit, and my supervisor openly admits to trying to run off the same guy for 5 years. He also made a racial "joke" to us about an African American truck driver that involved a watermelon festival. Oh how I wish I was recording that.
I joined JR Custom Metal Products (now Anchor Fabrication, Kansas) to start a career after achieving sobriety and wanting to make up for lost time, and my forum signature applies here more than anywhere. However, I'm having to fight just to maintain my sanity, as this job is the only one to offer enough time each week for me to attend physical therapy. Which reminds me, Eddie constantly changed my schedule until I quit missing 1 hour of work each week to attend Alcoholics Anonymous. He deliberately made it impossible for me to remain employed there and seek what counts as medical treatment for a disease. I quit going to meetings altogether due to that.
I'm looking for a new job now before it goes totally sideways since this family is a nightmare: spoiled, born rich, and never been told "No" before. I spoke with lawyers a year ago about a separate incident there and had an ironclad case but didn't want to file a sexual harassment/ attempted rape case against millionaires. Men can't do that in this society, even if it did take my pocket knife with a 4" long blade to get the Sedgwick County prisoner (who just got into trouble for rape threats against other men) to back off.
Nobody ever considers that this situation is still a reality for many people. Yeah, I'm depressed. Got anxiety too. I wonder why?
If anyone is looking to hire a man that doesn't quit trying even when dying, I'm open to moving out of state and apparently I'm cute if that helps...
