What did you do to your G-Body today? [2011-2018]

Got my exhaust welded together (poorly) and took it out for a ride. It still leaks like a sieve, and my passenger side manifold needs a new donut gasket but I can drive it at least.

Few days ago, on a whim bought a nice condition stock non ram air air filter housing (new filter and original wingnut included!) for 97 bucks off v8buick forum and put it on. Damn my engine looks sweet.

Also, tonight (last night, actually, from about 10pm to midnight) I was dickin around in the garage modifying the 231 alt. bracket support rod doohickey to fit on a 350 intake. Had to cut about 1.25" out of the center, mocked it up, marked it, and rewelded it. Along with bending the intake side mounting tab on the rod, and some massaging from a grinder wheel, it fits fine enough for me. Ultimate goal is to have the ac back up and running before summer ends, but I won't push myself to get it done.

Tomorrow I'm gonna double check fitment of the support rod, toss some satin black on it, Gunk the aluminum bracket, spray with flat/satin clear, grab a new bigger belt, and install. While I have everything off the front accessory wise, I might as well paint my rusty *ss pulleys and other bits. Oh, and put in my oil pump shim kit. TA specs .002-.003 clearance from the gear faces to the pump cover. Kinda just me summing up their instructions, but put a straight edge across the gear faces, measure to the gasket surface with a feeler gauge. If the gears are too deep in the housing, it's junk. Unless you get it machined, which is kind of a pita and not really worth it at all. Then you use the appropriate combo of shims and or gaskets to get the aforementioned clearance. This increases hot IDLE oil pressure only. Different relief springs +/- adjustable regulator determine pressure at above idle.

Also sent an email today (Friday morning) to Everyday Performance about getting a new Qjet... havent gotten a reply back yet.

Bypassed the heater core and started ripping out what was left of the original HVAC system. The case pretty much disintegrated in my hands. Will begin installing the Vintage Air heater and defroster tomorrow.
I’d love a write up too. 😉

I got my new tires mounted and balanced this week (not today, but worth a mention.) The wheels on the car had no weights on them at all and the tire guy was none too happy about being the first to balance them haha. This morning I went to the exhaust place, I did not like the Flowmaster 40 series style mufflers that came with the car. They recommended a Magnaflow, sounds much better to my ear now.
