well got the frame coated. the new bumper and taillights
installed and cab corner fixed. just need to paint the drivers fender. almost a new truck. now back to the cutlass.
LOL I like it! A guy here at work has one, and gets about the same ridiculous mileage. The funny thing is: he's about 6'4" and has to take his shoes off so he doesn't mash pedals together! He and I were joking about whether my series 2 project could beat him in the mpg dept., but I clearly have him on style, handling, performance, and comfort compared to his Metro.A month ago, I picked up another car to use as a daily driver.

There are worse cars you can buy for $350. So far, I have been loving the 52 mpg... but could I make it even better? The forum guys all say the stock intake system is somewhat restrictive, even when dealing with only 55 hp.
The outside of the air cleaner housing looks like it offers good airflow, but opening it up reveals otherwise. I decided to eliminate it entirely and replace it with something... better. But what, and how? Well, the Geo uses a 1-bbl TBI setup, which is very similar to a (small) carburetor... so I looked at my carbureted Grand Prix for inspiration.
Say, why not copy that setup on the humble little Geo? I stopped by the local O'Reilly and bought an Edelbrock universal air cleaner. After a bit of creativity to make it seal properly to the stock bottom piece of the air cleaner (which houses the PCV inlet and a charge air temp sensor, both of which I wanted to retain), I was finished.
Tah-dah!
Even if this nets me no gain in efficiency, just the reaction from car guys when I open the hood makes it worthwhile.

Ok but please don't go with the 5 gallon Chrome plated can hanging under the rear bumperA month ago, I picked up another car to use as a daily driver.
