Fiance's mom has an 03 Ram 1500. Wheelbearing destructively failed a few months ago and the shop quoted $2400 some bucks for the repair.

Been working on it a bit here and there. So far we are up to new (used) CV, wheelbearing, probably a tire, rotor, brake pads, diff oil and gasket.

Wheelbearing failed and whipped around the CV shaft and it killed the CV boot. Couldn't get the CV off the stub shaft coming out of the front differential. Pried and beat on it in the car for 2 hrs. Gave up and pulled the front diff apart, took the C clip off and pulled the stub shaft out with the CV cup.

Put it in the 10 ton press, applied heat, and oil, still wouldn't come out.

Went at it with the grinder (surgically). I can see why it didn't come out. The C spring retainer was a solid block of rust.

Stupid, stupid stupid dodge. "lets put a tight fit splined shaft without oil or antisieze in a highly rusty and damp environment". The 05 CV i got from the salvage yard was filled with grease so dodge figured out a few years in production that they made an oops and added grease.

That's their secret formula locking adhesive that to look like rust. 😀

Kinda it’s a 45ton underground haul truck that snapped clean in half, two 2900Gs bringing her up from half a mile down, night shift will bring up the engine end so the shop guys can put humty dumty back together
Looking at it I thought it was some kind of a giant mucker.

I spent the last few days cleaning out my garage so that I could pull my 70 Mercury Montego out of moth balls...Got all that done and started preparing to fire it up. Drained the tank. Then put a couple tea spoons of Marvel Mystery oil in each cylinder, let that sit over night. Turned the engine over at the crank. Primed the oil pump. Then fired it up...Fixed a couple gas leaks at the carb,...No knocks, sounded pretty good.
I couldn't remember why I parked the car to begin with...Then the spurting radiator reminded me...I went through my ford parts bin and found a brand new radiator, water pump, fuel pump and hoses. I guess I was going to do all that 5 years ago when I parked it....I have a long list of things to check, and to get done before putting it back on the road Time to get busy.

Not my project (I guess I donated the wheels and tires for it and some labor here and there), Dad's bean camper. Took it out for the first time this weekend.

All plywood, foam, screws, stock materials, ect. No formal plans, just what he thought would look good.

4th gen F body wheel hubs, old 14" wheels and tires off my wagon, cougar wire wheel hubcaps. 02ish impala electric power sunroof, dinette set in the back. Hole in the back side is set up for a 110V window AC unit dad is cutting in half (hot side out the side, cold side blowing inside, LED lights inside and out, small TV inside. Has a foam queen mattress inside. Motoguzzi motorcycle fenders.

Not done, still needs some steel sheeting over the sides, some more seals here and there. BUT it is use able.

I was sitting around in my underwear watching Le Mans and my wife said she had to go to work. Cool I have a couple hours to tear apart her Dryer and find out why it has an E64 (open circuit, heating element) error code and why the repairman she called wanted $458 to fix it.

20 minutes later...

There's the problem:

When I set it on the ground, heating element rings fell out of it. Open Circuit, indeed.

Went on Amazon Prime. $47 shipped with Free same day shipping. Guaranteed delivery by Saturday Jun 16.

I guess its back to Le Mans.

kudos for doin all that in your underwear!
