Just think of all the high school auto shops that had vises like those that probably found their way into the scrap pile when programs were discontinued.

15 years and 250k miles in IA, MN and ND have taken its toll on my rainier. I have put a bunch of time and money in suspension and other maintenance so its running great, just looking a bit rough on the quarters.
Time to get started cleaning it up. Patch panels are not made so going with the make my own panels from a fender method. I need to rebuild the inner wheelhouse lip that is mostly rusted out, get wire wheel what surface rust there is on the panels, cut the patch panel to size and weld everything in. Prime, bondo, prime and paint and hopefully it will make it another couple years and maybe to 300k. Its a 5.3 rainier so miles are irrelevant 😛
I had bondoed this up 2 years ago, it didnt last, and the primer i used has started to flake after 2 years for some odd reason.

Vise is still soaking in Evaporust. So I broke in the new Century AK today. I think I put about 200 or 300 rounds through it.

Looks alittle plain. Give it & your wallet to me & I'll make it so bad it'll take your lunch money everytime it sees you in the hallway. I'll have to find pics of the one I did for a buddy about 9 years ago.
Yeah the plastic isn't the greatest looking stuff but I don't have to worry about ****ing it up either. I was a little hesitant to buy the Century, I heard some stuff about people having bolt and carrier issues but supposedly they've addressed that issue.
Take it easy on me I literally just took it out of the box last night! I'm not planning on tricking this one out. It's got a milled 4140 receiver and a nitride coated chromoly 4150 barrel, so it should have good bones to build off of should I change my mind.

It'll be fine. Magpul fits and wears well but that thing is begging for some plum bakelite.
The MOE furniture that it came with is very comfortable. I do like the matte plum furniture, the glossy stuff isn't for me. We'll see after I put 1 or 2 thousand rounds through it. After that I can decide if I want to hang on to it or dump it.
Maybe get it nickel plated. There was a senoir ranking cop in Tikrit that had & wasn't afraid to use it.
