Got to working on further prepping the Mrs' Colorado for Winter. Swapping on the winter tires, fixing the beaten sway bar bolt, and giving it a good wash.
But there was something that has been bugging me for about a year: a weird oxidized snail trail running down the door from behind the DS mirror.
In all honesty I was expecting a small bit of aluminum oxide from galvanic corrosion on a bracket or fastener. Imagine my surprise when I found this:

I called Natasha out to see it... the look of confusion was precious. Asking me if I "could just paint it" was one more reason to want to pimp-slap my FIL. I know she appreciates the work, just not the process; I am raising my girls better. An hour of scrapping, scratching, sanding, and dremeling later I had this:

I slathered it in Krown rust-proofing and slapped it back on. What a f*cking nightmare, it really was as gross as it looks. Just 5 years old and already rotting from the inside out; the bracket/support is knackered. I can only imagine that the other side is just as bad. Thanks, GM.
