I got this 60 over 350 Engine as a core from a customer a couple weeks back it is an S&S reman it had very little wear on it when I disassembled the engine to inspect it which surprised me and had me wondering why someone would abandon this engine well today I found out why they broke both ears off the starter pad and then braised them back on and I’m thinking they had problems with the geometry and the alignment of the starter and fly wheel in his 79 vett
168 tooth bolt pattern binds the starter and tries to cross thread the one bolt
I Spun the bolts in by hand and check to see if they were 90 to the starter pad they are not closer to 98°
One Thing I did find it looks like the 153 tooth starter bolt pattern will work the starter bolted to block with little effort
So I’m not going to use this motor in anything worthwhile it will get reassembled and drop into something and destroyed I’m thinking 300 shot of nitrous should help it along
I have a two stage plate system and a Edelbrock nitrous controller I should be able to get a couple passes out of it before A failure
Going to post plenty of video on this thing all I need is a cheap hydraulic flat tappet cam to take advantage of the plate system
How much nitrous can you spray into a stock cylinder head on a small block Chevy before the motor goes into standoff
882 casting

From the 'Winter Projects 20/21' thread:
  • Get the 400sbc ready for start-up/brake-in (for the 'Bu).
  • Get the flat-head freshened up for the Cabriolet.
  • Steering column shortened for the 64.
I started the column shortening for my 64. Got it all apart so the chop-chop can commence.....

Sprint cars don't need starters.

Pedal cars don’t have starters and then we never read anything on here about people reminiscing about their performance
Back in the day I could get 3 feet of posi rubber out of mine before I snapped a axle ha
Somewhere in an old photo album, my mother has a photo of my youngest brother doing a wheelie in a pedal car.

So the qjet on the truck I built out of garbage i found in the garage as a self imposed challenge.

I completed it and passed. However, the choke pulloff takes about 3.5 years to disengage, I still have to hook the electric choke up, (does get warm enough to come all the way off fast idle, egr hole in the carb pad helps with that I think). I found the accel pump in a box (I think it's about 40 years old) of junk parts, and the float may be soaking up fuel. Plus I had to fight the power piston to get it to stay long enough to get the cover on because the retainer is fubar. Also the fuel filter looks like it's been under a fridge for 40 years. All those parts ordered from quadrajetparts.com.

Other than cold starting it runs pretty great besides the damn thing gets literally 2.25 mpg, so either the tweaker installed tank is leaking, the 7.6:1 compression, cam retarded 5* from 0 from factory 160hp 390 is a heavy drinker, or some meth head is following me around and stealing my gas. Ive checked everywhere for leaks while running, not running, after sitting, just after shut down, nothing.
I have yet to check the plugs, that will tell all. If they're clean, there has to be a massive leak I'm not seeing or something. lord. I get these things got like 8 at best new but 2.25 is abysmal.

Check the fuel pressure. Most mechanical fuel pumps these days put out too much PSI for Qjets, even so called stock replacements.
