Went over to my buddy Mike’s place for his turn on our alternating garage days. We’ve been thrashing pretty hard lately to get the inside of his ‘57 Chevy’s trunk done to the point where we could paint it.

Well today was that day, and he tapped yours truly to pull the trigger on the ‘ol paint gun.
2 coats of PPG DP50LV epoxy primer went on wet on wet followed by 3 coats of Porsche Guards Red:

Not many of you will know what the inside of a trunk of a ‘57 Chevy looks like stock, but this old girl has received a spare tire elimination kit and a custom mini tub job for some wider meats. The spraying itself went extremely well today, without a single run even in the hard to reach areas like the front of the wheelwells and underneath the package tray.

Mike is over the moon with it as am I, but I’ll be even happier once I get the red overspray outta my hair!
😅
Very tastefully done

My pullin' (poulan) chainsaw hasn't started since last summer. I have a cedar bush along the driveway I need to cut down and it actually lost a branch and almost fell on my Rainier this winter. I noticed the other branch is split too so its gotta go!

Saw ran like junk last summer and I couldn't get it started this winter to chop up that cedar branch. Tried last weekend too and no go.

Took the carb apart expecting to see it full of crap but nothing. Put it back together and it actually stated.

Guess I get to be Paul Bunyan tomorrow. Most of the 5" of snow we got sunday melted today thankfully.

Yes, thats right. It snowed 5 inches sunday. Blah.

Dragged my son out to the garage and had him weld up an LS engine cradle. I taught him how to mig weld about 6 years ago but he hasn't done it since then. He did a great a job especially since it's only his second time.

I actually have 2 of these apart ATM. One runs like champ for over 10 years now but the drive gear is chewed and tosses the chain. The other is basically BN from my uncle but 10 years old and runs like poop. I put new fuel lines on the newer one and it either runs wide open or not at all. Think I am going to toss them both

Did you check the spark arrestor (muffler screen) to make sure it doesn't need cleaned? It's the 2 stroke equivalent to a plugged cat.

Thanks Eric!
Quite welcome D I know what it takes to make something like that look that good and my comment doesn't reflect it and painting inside a trunk or cab or any enclosed area is the worst! Like painting a roll cage. It really looks good though

Changed the rear axle and hydrostat oil on one of my mowers.

Pretty sure SAE 30 isn't supposed to be that color.

Its been in the upper 20F's outside and with the snow and salt crap they threw on the roads Sunday I haven't had motivation to get the 2+2 out for a drive. I need to get insurance on it anyways. I need to get the flex fuel PCM swapped in and a tune made, but its junk outside to do that so the car is just sitting.

Been doing model building instead. Wrapped up these pair of combines for customers.
One is about an '83 model and the other is like a '77 model.

And a pair of tractors. One forklift and one highway ditch mower. I checked my orders list and I have like 40 more orders for different variations of these damn things, lol.

And I fiddled with CAD last week to build some more attachments.

My 3D printing contract company is on Long Island and they have gotten SLOW but are still miraculously running their equipment. I was expecting to run out of raw stock but I keep ordering parts and they keep showing up on my door.

And college stuff. Getting dangerous! Learning Computational Fluid Dynamics software. Modeled an air filter last week. I should be able to flow model intake elbows and plumbing stuff with what I am learning.

My stretch goal this summer is to design an intake manifold for my long term ~400 inch turbo olds DX motor. I already have a holley street dominator single plane I was going to to just weld injector bungs into, but since I learned how to run the waterjet at campus, I might as well cut some intake flanges and fab an intake similar to those new BTR equalizer LS intakes. I have an aluminum hood for my '81 cutlass that I want to put on and I don't think I can clear the hood with a single plane carb manifold and an elbow.
