I have a 84 Hurst olds with 307 motor and 200R4 transmission, I want to get rid of all the computer controlled stuff and convert it to a holley carb and put shift kit in trans, In Maryland since car is 20 years or older I don't have to go thru emissions or have car inspected to put car on the road, whats is needed if anything to do this, thanks Darrin

You will need a distributor for a non computer controlled car for starters. Your transmission may need a different convertor, not sure because of the lockup. I did a 350 swap and got rid of the computer used an old non computer controlled transmission. I know I used a non computer controlled transmission with the computer yrs ago, I am not sure how the od will work with out the computer. Hope some of this helps..

you can use a torque converter lockup kit to retain the converter lockup without your ECM or just go to a non-lockup converter. I have the kit on my 200-4R and it works great, but i only have about a 2000 stall converter

You can get an early G Body. They don't have computers and have a plain transmission.

84Hurst:First off you have a classic dont do it!;Second if you want to Its pretty damn simply a motor only needs 3 eliments to work:Compression, fuel, and fire.If you unhook every wire under the hood; But not the starter/Alternator and the pinky going to the distributor your in business.....pull the carb and the dist...get a dist from the 70s,and get a dist from late 70s/early 80sAnd your good..

I am in the process of doing the same thing to my 87

I looked at non computer controlled distributors for my car and they are cheap. I am looking at spending around $200 on that. Then you just get the Holley Carb. and your good to go. I never heard of that ECU blocker, or whatever, so I'm gonna have to check that out.
