What engine to put into Pontiac GP T-Top?

During the stripping of the newly acquired Pontiac in 2014 we removed the motor as it did not turn anymore. From guessing I think it was the original Pontiac motor and gearbox.

The gearbox however is still in place and I need to know what V8 engine I can put in that wont gussle up too much gas but still provide some joy when cruising long distances?

V8 prefence is mostly based on availability in this country of South Africa

I was leaning towards chev

there are V6 and V8 but the tendency is to go for the V8 range

More specific is the following on the V8's:

Chev LS1 5.7 litre new bare block
Chev 350 Goodwrench 4 bolt main new engine
Chev 350HO 330 hp De Luxe engine

which one of those would be suitable for the current gearbox?

The two sbc Chevy are the best bet since it won't really require much more work. The good wrench engine is good and solid for future builds

I just was looking at your other thread . A chevy engine will not bolt up to that transmission. You will need a transmission the has a chevy bellhousing bolt pattern. They sell adopters to bolts BOP transmissions to chevy engines
