Also what kind of carb should i go with

What kind of intake is on it ?? And do you want to keep the one that is on it ??
Can you post a picture of the intake ??
Theres lots of choices,Edelbrock make a wide range of intakes,as do Holley,Weiand,Professional products,etc.
You also need to match the intake to the heads,which could be peanut port,oval or rectangular port design.
Lots of choices for carbs too,Holley and Demon are two of the good ones.
And if your budget permits there are a couple of entry level fuel injection units on the market.

Just looked at those pic & she's not a 427, casting # says it's a 396/402 for '69-'72. From what I'm believing from the date code it'll most likely a '70 402.

It also looks like the same casting # was used for the 454;
"3969854 1969-73 454 2/4"
Makes me wonder if the 1969 might have been a 427 as the 454 didn't debut until 1970.
One way to find out is to take it apart !!

396/402's & 454's wouldn't of used the block as the 396/402 bores are smaller. Now they shared the stroke with the 427 which might of fooled someone to believe it was one. Overall there are two basic blocks by bores: the 396/402 & 427/454. And there are two basic cranks by stroke: 396/402/427 & 454. Then the block date being E1270, that block was casted in May of '70 so I'll bank on it being a 402. Only other details needed would be the code stamped on the front pad to ensure what it is, again banking on it being a '70 that three letter code will either start with a C or T.

That was the first one I saw too but no used dates I dug deeper & find another list that didn't have the 454 under it as if it was the same block.

Yeah it does seem kind of odd.
I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time that someone bought an engine that wasn't what they were told it was.
The OP will find out when he takes it apart...
