All diesel 350 blocks were DX blocks, that was the diesel designation. If he snags it the whole car will be worth it just for the block. They can take being bored/stroked upto 440 cubic inches and some even beyond that.
I personally don't think it wouldn't be worth your time and effort. Yes they can be build but with all the effort and money it would take you can build a stout 455 cheaper and it would be lighter. If you look on "e- bay there is one for $295 that no one wants. I have a soft spot for these things, back in the day I bought an 81 impala diesel w/ 80,000 for $400. It was advertised with a bad motor but had a bad head gasket. Instead of putting the 350 chevy I had in it I replaced the head gaskets ($80 back then) and drove it to 200,000 miles. Also had a Cadillac diesel.
We destroyed hundreds of those blocks, Back in the 80's after the Class action law suit. We took a torch and blew holes in each cylinder and cut the crank . Had a pile of them 6 feet high at the Caddy dealership I worked at. They all went to the scrap metal man.
It's really only worth it if you want a SBO stroker. THat's about it. No other use for these really. And they are heavy summa b*tches too. It weighs more than a 455.
