I am planning on getting a used, non-cc Quadrajet carb. What kind should I be looking for? All it needs to be is a 600-650 cfm. What year cars/trucks should I be lookin for? If any one knows this, what numbers on the carb will I want to see?

Thamks for the help.

I don't have a lot of info, but I know the following:
My 1984 Buick is CCC
My father's 1986 Suburban has a Quadrajet, and is NOT CCC

Since truck emissions standards are looser than cars, you can probably find a non-CCC Quadrajet from any GM truck.

Stay away from the GBody cars 84 and up as they will have the CCC ( look for the plug on the front of the carb ). Camaros and Firebirds started with the CCC in '81 I believe.

Myself I went looking for 78-80 Trans Am / Camaro Z28 / Corvette as they all used the same carb and it was supposed to have larger rods. Otherwise go looking at trucks 1988 and older.

Just from experience  find one from a vehicle with an Auto Trans. The linkage will not have the kick-down portion of the throttle if it's from a manual trans.

I have an 86 Cutlass 2 door. It has an Olds 350 going in it. It is going to be fairly stock, except for the cam. That is a Crane cam, specs are 204/216 .456/.484. I am also using the matching valve springs for the cam. It also has an Edelbrock intake manifold. Compression ratio will be close to stock for 1977, and the rotating assembly is stock. The trans will be a 200r4. The rear end is stock, I may be going with a 3.08 gear sometime in the future.

exhaust system specs?

so far your looking at a slightly modified qj from the late '70's olds products. you may need to put on a tv cable post for the 200 4r trans.

I would pull a Quadrajet off a 307 or 350 Olds powered car made from 1976-1980. This gives you a lean enough idle feed restriction, and it will bolt in place of the CCC carb with no other real alterations. You may want to swap over your electric choke coil cover to replace the manifold heated choke used on some late 70's GM products. Watch out for wobbly throttle shafts! Old ones tend to have this problem, and really bad ones will not hold idle. I had one like that, and while it can be fixed, I didn't. It was an Olds carb and I needed a Chevy carb ( 90 degree inlet) so I looked for about 4 months to find a suitable core.

Im going to be getting the 2 1/2 inch Pypes dual system. Not sure what kind of headers yet.

Does the carb have to be from an Olds? Most of the non cc carbs have been takin from the Olds engines around me.

Well, you want one from a front inlet style car with a similarly sized engine. Chevys and Cadillacs use the side inlet style, but you don't want one off a Cadillac unless it is a 1980 368. Even then, be sure it has no computer on it as I think those might have the C4 computer.

Yes best bet is to use one from 78-80, it will bolt right on and the only messing around you'll have to do will be possibly blocking some vacuum ports or rerouting some vacuum lines. Electric choke M4MC's are easy to find, some popular model numbers are 17058202, 17058204, 17058250, 17058253, 17058257-58-59, 1708502, 17058504, 17058553, 17058555. 17058582, and 17058584. That is just a sampling of some of the non computer Quadrajets that were used during the early 78-80 G/B body era, used on all the GM engine lines.
