Curious what people have used for interior refreshing on 81s with the maroon interior. Used to be that I would mix DuPont vinyl resin at work, but we have moved to a different product line, and I really don't need a whole lt of it, so looking at the SEM aerosols.

Brian,
I used the SEM Burgundy #15063. It matches my original replacement burgundy door panels.
However, there is a variation in colors.

I am not sure of the exact shade you are looking for but for me the SEM #15063 which is their darkest of the reds is still a full shade off the dash color I was trying to match in my 86' Regal.

Is your color code 77? I use PPG products to recolor my stuff. Same can to do all my stuff but I did do the colum in low gloss lacquer. I have had great results from everything. Dixie Restorations did sell PPG before the moved north.

Here are the PPG codes: semi gloss 72415, low gloss 72435. This is an old UCV code: 2-803, UCV-69 low gloss clear for dashes. Not sure if any PPG shops still use & mix the UCV line.

I get mine from Mike's Montes. It's not SEM but still worked awesome for me. It's like $18 a can which sucks but it's the closest if not perfect match. That is for the claret Monte interior.

Remembered I had a can of the SEM 15063. It is pretty close to the lower door panels, should be OK for what I need to use it on. I think the guys with the Claret interiors (85-88) will have to look elsewhere, the SEM is not dark enough, as previously mentioned.

Thanks to those who posted!

I just saw this post. Dont know if you eventually got the right color but it looks like there are 3 different reds for 1981. That might be part of the problem. Are you looking for the right color ?
