I've always liked the classic Jaguar 4 door sedans. An older good friend of mine had one that he put a small block Chevy in and drove it for 15 years. An elderly lady asked my wife at her work if she knew anyone who would be interested in a 1982 XJ6 Jaguar. It was her husbands and he passed away in 2010. The car has sat since. Ended up paying $1500 and it drove onto the trailer. The gas is tarnished but overall the car is in great shape. I removed the gas tank yesterday to find it full of rust and lots of it. Got on ebay for a new one and it is $655! Holy $%^&. Got on Summits website and found an aluminum cell with sending unit for $219. Which way you think I'm going? Lol. The tank I'm sure will have through rust holes after acid dipping so a cell will be a logical choice for me.

wow you drive way must look cool 😛 love the jag i have a weird obsession with wanting a xjr, that is one clean jag maybe go roadkill blown sbc?

The body appears to be in nice shape...and I was also going to say that sbc swaps are very common with these cars. Probably a cheaper alternative than repairing or replacing the Jag inline 6 or 12.
A late friend of mine had a Jag XJ-S powered by a 455 Buick. That car cruised along nicely on the interstate.
Wow! The replacement tank is quite pricey. I don't blame you for going with the fuel cell.

Jaguars are known for catching on fire especially due to bad wiring and lack of flame retardants. A fuel cell seems like a waste of money when it would be easy to use a regular gas tank from some other model or put one in the trunk?

The Jag gas tanks are in the quarter panels and are shaped like them. Unique to XJ series 3 cars. There is nothing else that would fit in the quarters. https://www.google.com/search?hl=en...h&q=jaguar+XJ6+gas+tank&imgrc=ydhBRvcXSF021M:

Jaguars issues with fires are the fuel injection and fuel line are prone to leaks and if you have the Marelli ignition aftermarket cap and rotor can cause a fire. Since those are the known issues you need to use the OEM cap and rotor if you have the Marelli ignition and it's easy enough to check the fuel issues I look at the problem as lack of maintenance and not a car that you need to be worried about

and on this Ebay page the tanks are 275...
