My older brother told me I'd be taking some flak for changing this car....Every item- Engine,Trans,Rear end,all bolt ons will be rebuilt and kept.I know how rare these cars are.My car also has the sand drift interior,no t-tops,no electric windows or mirrors or seats. This car was a real plain jane Hurst but it's going to rip- snort when were done.Anyway's I'm done talking about Gbody parts.Just triing to move forward. Can anyone suggest where I can get some bucket seat hinge covers redone? One of the covers also needs some plastic repair.I also have some other plastic /Chrome that could use some replateing.Help would be appreciated. Thanks
Glad to hear that you are at least keeping the original components. It's tough love to say the least, Olds guys are manily purists at heart and it's painful to see these cars slowly dissapear. It's not like the Monte SS or Buick GN's which they made 10's of thousands of.
Between the Hursts and 442's from 83-85 there are less of them in total made than there are GN's and the same goes with Montes. Over 30,507 GN's were produced between 82 and 87 while only 17,982 Hursts and 442's were only produced (6501 Hursts and 11,481 442's).
There are only an estimated 1/3 of these cars out of 3000 left on the road today and the Sand Gray interior is SUPER RARE with an estimated 400-600 only being made.
I own one with a Sand Gray interior and T-tops and basically saved it from becoming a turd.
BTW it's places like gbodyparts.com and guys like Brian Weaver that are keeping these cars alive.
Brian is a stand up guy and will do his best to correct the situation, I don't view his site as a buisness or a store but a guy that sells parts online just like anyone else does on forums. I've spoken personally with him a few times and have done buisness with him many times with no issues.
Keep in mind he is an independent person, hes not YEAR ONE, OPG or AutoZone to say the least.
I'd recommend gbodyparts.com to anyone.
