I have a 1986 monte ss with a 700r4 trans. I just purchased a lq4 with 48k on it what kind a trans would be the best for new motor? Does any one know where to get decently priced motor mounts for conversion.
also if anyone has a build sheet or parts list for an Lq4 with 550 to 600hp please post
If your 700r4 is in good working order it will bolt to the 6.0 no problem. You will have to buy a spacer to go between the converter and flywheel if you have a dished flywheel to remove a potential vibration. But if not the 4l60e is a good option.
For motor mounts i used 1 inch back plates and stock 350 clamshells from carshopinc on eBay for about $50 it will make the LS drop in just like a 350
Edit: Forgot to add but although the 700r4 will work with the 6.0 im not sure how well the TV cable will work with an LS intake maybe another user can help
You could go with a manual valve body 4l80e for not too much money and it would handle some power and abuse. Personally, Id get the 7004r you already have built up.
As far as mounts, many people I know have been going with the Dirty Dingo EZ LS mounts.
Unless your running 9's A 4l80e is a overkill. Parasitic loss is big , so just run a 4l60e. Much better than a 700r4. You'll have the PCM ready for the 4l60e anyway.
What is a good year for a 4l60e to match my 2002 lq4 what kind of car do i want to get the trans out of ? I would like to keep it connected to the ecm for tuning purposes
