My first G-Body was a 1982 Pontiac Grand Prix, which I bought in 2001.
I loved that car; I had had a string of relatively bad or awful cars before that, ones that had either blown up (coughcoughChevyCelebritycoughcough) or were painful to be seen driven (station wagons). So this was a nice change. It had the Buick 231, but who's counting... I liked it, and I liked driving it.
Around 2003, it was having some trouble getting through New Jersey emissions. I saw another Grand Prix, an '85, for sale down the street from me and I bought it. I then spent the summer combining the good bits of both cars into one, which ended up being this:
Gone was my 231, replaced with a 305. Same cranky three speed automatic, but she could move.
I drove that car until 2008, when a series of misfortunes occurred. I eventually took it off the road with the intentions of eventually fixing it up. It needed new doors, a new radiator, the intake manifold leaked, and there was some body rust I had to take care of.
... and there it has sat ever since, waiting patiently for me to get the time, money and motivation to take care of it.
