What's Wrong With America?

well you do have to look at russian history. everytime the ruler has shared power it's been really bad. granted they've had their share of tyrants but they're also had a few good ones. putin seems to be doing a decent job so far. and by russian standards his tactics are pretty low key.

I'm with jat guit

I'm with Jatguit, It's all that and more. It needs to stop things need to change now though the faster the better. the oil dependency and the election of old oil $ men needs to end. They will insure this nightmare will continue.

We need to think forward in everything we do.
Like the Native American idea of doing everything with the future 7th generation in mind. Which obviously has not been done.
It's a mess right now that's pretty apparant. Kind of scary.

Wonder what our fore fathers would think of our dependecy on other countries??? That's not what we were made for here, this country.
Declaration of Independence anyone??

I agree that a two pronged plan is needed that equally gives priority to exploring and developing domestic sources of oil and coal while an equal priority is to develop renewable and alternative energy resources.

Here in Wyoming we have enough coal that if converted to liquid fuels could replace all our imported oil at current rate of consumption for at least 300 years. The Germans started doing this in WWII and South Africa has been doing this since the 70's. We could develop oil shale here in Wyoming, and in Utah and Colorado. North Dakota and Eastern Montana have a newly discovered oil field equal to that of Soudi Arabia. These sources are not cheap to develop because they require special extraction techniques, but it could be done for less than $100.00/barrel.

This could all be done without too much harm to the environment. We have an oilfield 8 miles north of town, and if you were new here, you wouldn't even know it's there. Also, the antelope are safer there because you can't shoot around the rigs and pumps.

The Germans also ran their cars on wood during WWII. It is called wood gassification, or Holtzgas, and basically uses a wood burner on the car which partially burns the wood, then the gases from partial decomposition are burned in the engine to power the car. There is a thread about it that I started, if you are curious.
