Ford sells a lot of trucks to Farmers. If you live a 1/2 to an hour from town, heater blasting in -40 pulling a big trailer, how long will it last? I hope manufacturers push Hydrogen cell as well, if we have to go petroleum free, nice to have options.
Whelp, if you keep your car a SBO, or, a SBC, even a buick or poncho v8, clean propane and propane accessories are an option for you courtesy of Hank Hill.

Even my 8.1L can go propane courtesy of a Schwan's truck. You know what I don't think can? An LS,swap. Just another reason they suck.

So there's that in your back pocket.

Like I said, I am building this 358 mild, using the LS trick, big flow number aluminum heads with ultra modern chambers with a mild roller cam to produce decent power numbers. It will run on 87, the dual cats, lean Qjet should meet 1990 emissions standards and get 20 mpg or better on the highway. Propane used to be on a lot of vehicles here, we may see a comeback. Coop sells a lot, for home heat in rural areas and grain dryers. Never say never.

Got in the LS hate haha. I’ve been waiting.

Well, I use LNG injectors in my LS - is that close enough?

He pretends like corn juice doesn't exist and we don't intentionally make LS motors run on backyard moonshine...

Or this....

Except propane is about $1.20 / liter.

Hey, you can't spell LoSer without "LS". 🙂

Yankin' chains. I love the LS engines. Just can't ever see putting one in my G-body, though.
Sooner or later you old boys will realize all motors are just fancy air pumps, the LS version is just plentiful and cheap with good bang for the buck and computers make them more efficient.

A page or two back I seen a reference to soy, the McRib main ingredient, so I’ve been following closely expecting the inevitable. The LS hate caught me off guard whereas I was ready for the McRib conversation :friday:

FWIW, I grabbed up two more LS’s for the future - a Gen 3 4.8 and another aluminum Gen 4 5.3 with 243/799’s. So please keep hating them and throwing them aside so I can pick up a couple of more for $200.

==========

Back to EV’s. I’ve been reading about the Lightning. According to Ford’s propaganda, it will take about 13 hours on a 30 amp circuit to charge the 200 mile battery and almost 20 hours to charge the 300 miles battery. Is there any real data about how many Kwh’s that equates to?

And what is the life cycle of these batteries? What is the recycle plan with them at the end of their lifespan? And lastly, what is the cost of these things (batteries)?

Premium is 144.9/liter here. Even regular is currently 128.9. Those prices recently dropped, regular was 143.9 for quite a while.
