Our FSAE team is a big douchecake. So i'm doing the GRM challenege with the sports car club here on campus.

I am in my last semester at UNL. I will be leaving with a degree in construction management.

I would recomend doing something after high school even if you dont end up using it.

our SAE isn't much butter but our car club sucks nut. there's a bunch of honda's, a couple miatas, and one fox body with nothing done to it but an ugly cowl hood

Like we have a really good SAE team its just the fact the leaders are the only ones who do anything the rest just kinda sit and watch and then when the competition comes, they bring their girlfriends instead of us. Our car club here is awesome, we have autox, drag races every week, car shows, and just its an awesome and diverse group to hang out with. We got hondas, 2 g-bodies, an NSX, a few porshes, subarus, mustangs (who doesnt have one), a few camaros, and a 69 firebird

I am still working on my AA at SPC, so I have a ways to go before I can transfer to my local university, USF and get into the actual engineering stuff. As far as it goes, I can do pretty much anything mechanical very well, even bodywork and electrical. Unfortunately, those skills do not lead too far where I live, and I am stumped as to what other kind of degree I can get that will allow me to get into the technical details of design. I just know that I could never be happy changing alternators on Camrys my whole life as it becomes repetitious and boring after a while. I suspect many of you are the same way, and wonder why and how things work, and not just how to remove and replace things. This is the essence of doing all of the science and math behind this sort of degree ( I hope) and being on the cutting edge of theory allows you to see interelationships between systems and how certain tradeoffs produce increased efficiencies in other places. Sorry for my rambling post, but I am stcuk in Keyboarding class right now and can't take the time to edit this.

UNL gave me the impression that engineers sit at a desk all day long and do calculation after calculation. Im sure that this isnt 100% true, however I liked the CM department's attitude better than the Mechanical Engineering Department's.

If you want to design things its hard to go wrong with a degree in mechanical engineering.
