Why do people resist posting their location in their profiles?

I've listed my location and have many times been asked "Where the hell is Cheektowaga New York??????"

A lot of new age car thieves lurk on sites such as this to find what to steal next. Not disclosing your location is a smart move.

Qdub nailed it. G bodies are easy cars to steal and it still happens quite frequently. Especially in the Midwest.

So you guys really think somebody is going to drive every street in the Oklahoma City area looking for my wagon?

I figure the thieves are after bigger fish than my old G body. Granted, I wouldn't be posting my address online...but they'd never find my place anyway...and then there's the locked gates....and the dog...and the armed owner and armed neighbors.
Yeah, I know if they want something badly enough, they'll get it, but really I can't see a simple state or city/state location being an open invitation.....but then I don't live in a BIG city ...been there, done that, not for me.

You gotta understand lowlifes. We are at work, school, baby sitting, whatever. Dirtbags are not. They have all day every day to sniff out stuff to steal. At 3AM you are out cold- they are not. They have all day to sleep. Locks can be defeated, dogs can be bribed/drugged, and your stuff will walk. I am always amazed at the lengths scummers will go to steal sh*t that I don't even consider very valuable. Detectives I know say that although there are professional thieves that are very good at what they do, most people are robbed by someone they know.

That is very true, for example the majority of shoplifting in stores is employee theft. Most thefts are inside jobs to some degree.
