x2. I used to frequent a few that were pretty brutal, one being locally based. Politics is politics wherever you go. It's as bad as religion and people stick to their guns about it.

I could give a sh*t less what people do to their cars. I like being able to share my knowledge with other people and seek advice when I don't know something. Besides, I can only talk cars so much with my circle of friends and I need another outlet.

I agree with all of the words which you guys have posted on here. I am new to this forum and I have already noticed people are far to hostile on some of the threads, ex young guns thread. I participated in that thread as a way to get my feet wet and was appalled to see people bashing each other for their cars and whether they were ricers or muscle car enthusiasts. I will admit I joke like any other when I see something that doesn't match my personal preferences. But regardless of whether I like the car or not, its not my car and chances are like me the person driving the car has invested both time and money in it and I appreciate and respect their effort they put into that car regardless of what kind of car it may be.

My Grandfather always had a great saying for me when I would call something stupid,
"Opinions are like *ssh*les, everyone has one"

I think what people should do on this forum is realize that these cars are all a work of pride for these people building them. Just because you don't like it or think that something is wrong, it don't give you anymore right then the next guy to bash that car.

Alot of good nice caring people on here. but there are some "haters" for a lack of a better term. I do like seeing people with pride in their cars. you can tell the people with pride. the love of it shows.

The best part is the exchange of ideas, set ups and learning from other peoples trial and errors. I mostly cruise here to see what people are doing, some opinions (like the cowl hood on a 78-80 monte, turns out i wasnt the only one who thought it looked like sh*t)

just ignore the haters. There are alot more good people. Ive seen on more then many occasisons. People giving parts to someone, helping someone in need or lending a hand in a build. Just look at those threads.

Honestly, i know a lot of people on this forum or other car related forums and one thing that becomes pretty clear is the way you ask the questions. Use proper English for one, stop using all of the "whats the cool word for something" and the slang you hear on MTV or other similar shows, just write clearly and nine times out of ten you get a polite answer. But when i read some of the posts that are all, yo-yo, my rimzz, dubz and crap like that i just ignore what ever they were trying to ask, it would take me too long to decipher what the actual question was.

Even on the turbo Buick forum, i used to be on there all the time, and i don't have a turbo Buick, even my screen name was indicating i have a 78 Monte Carlo with a big block, i'd ask questions and post on other topics, and never got harassed or told crap.

Yes a lot of people don't like big rims on g-body's, one reason is that the wheel wells are plainly too small to make the wheel look proportional to the car. Yes i have seen some nice Monte's or GN's with 20's or some on 22's that look good, but those are typically done to a car the correct way, either mini-tub'd or other expensive modifications have been done to them that they don't ride like an old trailer and can take a corner at speed with no worry. Most of the g-body owners I've talked to with the big rims tell me how they have to watch out for every pot-hole, curb, speed bump,uneven piece of road just so they don't crack a rim or blow a tire..

Now that i'm done with my little rant, i hope it made sense?

Yes i have a 78 Monte Carlo with a 3" Cowl Hood, because the engine has a high-rise intake and the carb sits well above the hood line. I only like cowl hoods on cars that need them due to engine needs

if someone's opinion differs with others I fail to see how they can be classified as a hater because that is surely not the definition of the word. But if that is the case then I guess we are all haters since we don't all agree on everything. I have no issue with someone voicing their opinion, good or bad, of my car. It's only a car and it doesn't have any feelings that can be hurt so there is no reason for me to defend it's honor. If I got upset over something someone said about my car that would be a my problem and I would not take out my problem on whoever made the comment

and G_body_Vet.....you certainly have aged and you got more hair since the last picture I saw of you, kids can do that to you but it was awfully quick in your case...

Its a given that all people are not gonna agree on everything, be it cars, wheels, politics, why bush/cheney arent in jail...etc. The opinion, for the most part is not the issue...Its the delivery and/or the attitude that it might be paired with. For example, I may not like a particular car color, wheel set up, engine choice, etc, but I dont go as far as to tell the poster that what he/she has done is stupid, moronic, silly...etc. I may express my personal dislike for such things, but I will always try to understand that it is, after all, their car and add something positive to my post. People expect to hear opinions that differ from their own, or else they would be foolish to even post it in the first place...what they dont deserve is demeaning or condescending remarks that do nothing to benefit anybody and only bring a negative vibe to the party.

do you have to slide politics and your opinion of Bush and Cheney in whenever you think you can?. I thought GP403 made it very clear many threads ago that politics would not be accepted in General Discussion threads and I believe shortly after that you slid politics into a thread and you were warned about it...
