Why is everyone on here so hostile?

I totally agree. I started at oldspower.com, and they have a bunch of snobby people...granted not everyone lol, b/c I know some of our members are there too, I look on both sites when I need parts and see the dual posting.

My 84 cutlass had the old boat anchor 231 buick v6. I swapped in a 350 chevy v8 and posted a few questions on oldspower. I got attacked with people crying about why would you put a chevy in an oldsmobile and then people whinning about how thay never put chevy's in oldsmobiles and yata yata yata.
That was the last time I posted on that site

I got tons of help, input and encouragement on my build-up. I have also gotten ideas for my build from seeing our members rides and even met some of you guys at shows. I have found this site to be great and have not gotten many of what I would consider rude or snobby people.

That all being said I think a lot of the anger in some of these situations like the guys with low riders and big rims and hopper cars stems from the fact that parts availability for our g-bodies is low and also expensive. When more manufacturers start making more parts I think there will be less and less anger. The reason I say this is because I appreciate all types of cars but when I see someone like the hopper cars...when I see them standing outside the car with the remote control and flipping the around with no remorse for the driver side door or fender I could have used when they destroy it. That's about the only thing that gets me. I like seeing all the other variations of custom g-bodies. So I say just post it if YOU want to and just don't pay attention to haters. Low-riders, big rims, small rims, stock guys, hardcore racers, cruisers, hot rods, show cars, daily drivers, pro-tourers, rat rods and whatever else there is out there should post what they built. We should all live the that golden rule "If you don't have anything nice to say...the stfu."

...and I apologize for the rant

There aren't many snobs at Oldspower. Oldspower is a site for Olds powered cars, which yours is not. It's a site where people respect the idea of Oldsmobile cars being powered by Oldsmobile engines ( what a novel concept! ). It's not a general site for people who just so happen to have the body of an Olds but want to dump in cheap 'just like everybody else' Chubby mills, so you can't really blame anyone there for not wanting to see that being done by someone. Chevy lovers have everything they could possibily ever want and more. Do they have to have the websites dedicated to non-Chevy stuff too?

As far as the hostility here goes, I guess I just haven't really seen it. Probably because I don't bother reading any threads about big rims and such because that stuff don't interest me. I do think doing that stuff to a rare car like a 442 or H/O is crossing the line, but hey, that's just me.

If you want to start a fire just mention something political and watch the flames.....

Fair enough, we are all entitled to our opinion (I am always right and anyone who disagrees is a moron of course  ), anyone who owns a car can do what they like with it, from restore it to original, turn it into an aircraft, or run it in a demolition derby.
But if I don't like what someone wants to do to their car I dont follow the thread, very simple really.
I will put my view in my posts, however it would be a dull world if we all thought the same, so lets wind our necks in when anyone departs from our particular viewpoint and allow them their own view.

Maybe if we see a post we have strong views about and want to rush in with a post telling the OP what an idiot he or she is we should get a coffee and have a think before hitting the keyboard.

But this is the cyber world and it is very easy to throw abusive posts into this or any forum, if we ignore the abusers they normally get bored and go away.....

Roger.

i agree...

like i tell everyone. I build my car for myself an no one else and honestly I dont give a sh*t what people think about my car. Its MY car. not theirs. Im the one building it, Im the one paying for it, Im the one sweating, bleeding and cursing im the one who is proud of what I have done and have planned.

I dont give a sh*t what other peple do to their cars. Opinions are like *ssh*les. Everyone is one. (get it)

Well said. Couldn't agree more.

well...a little respect goes a long way! we all have our personal preferences and styles and spend alot of time on our cars so if you dont care for a certain style dont look at it. we build our cars for ourself not for people to critisize...thats just how i view it
