I'm downloading Windows 10 and wondering if any of you are using it and how do you like it so far...

I heard that it was getting pushed out. Will have to fire up my one and only Windows box and get it underway. I have so far successfully avoided even having to look at Windows 8 up until now. Hope it isn't like that....

I downloaded Win 10 to put it on my back up pc. I had to reload Win 7 about 4 months ago and could not get the key to work and microsoft wouldn't help. I thought Windows 10 was supposed to load on a Win 7 whether it was registered or not. The Win 10 wants me to register the Win 7 and then download the Win 10 again.

I have been debating on "upgrading". I have a few machines around the house that have windows 8.1, an unless it is a touchscreen, it sucks IMO. So, I may do windows 10, not sure yet.

I will go to Windows 10 at some point. I tend to wait a moth for others to find the mistakes and workarounds first. Better to be on the cutting edge than the bleeding edge. As far as Windows 8 / 8.1 I think that the UI was a mess compared to Windows 7 but under the hood it rand better for what I wanted.

I was happy with XP-Pro for a long long long time....
Been running 7 for the last 2 years and its been fine for what I need. Daughter has 8 on her laptop and I don't like it at all.

7-8 and now 10 is just a money grab so they can get you on a subscription package IMO. I will wait at least a few years until a "corporate" CD comes floating my way

I am still on VISTA which I like a lot, and I miss XP, so I'm not impressed with the latest doo dads. I tried seeing if my PC can handle W10 but all I got was the runaround from Microsucks. Oh well, never mind.

Is it possible that it could be choking on something left behind from the original install?

I'm not a Windows expert, I have 7 installed but don't run it much. I'm writing this on Linux, which is in some ways even worse due to the vast gaggle of nerds behind the chaotic pile of bug-riddled stuff you have to install to do anything -- so I go for long periods not wanting to touch anything, even though it's out of date and for example Web pages don't always work quite right.

Microsoft isn't even a Windows expert so don't be too hard on yourself. I installed the Windows on a new computer that I had put together so there was no leftovers. According to the geniuses at Microsoft I have never used the key for a Windows install in the past. I was told I had to buy a key.
