Thanks for posting that link. Some guys can be pretty creative when it comes to substituting tools. My friend used a bench mounted drill press for a spring compressor using various pieces of PVC pipe. So, if there's a will, there's a way.

any ?'s just ask.

Looks good , seems like you are making great progress.
I just can't seem to figure out what the lip seal tool does. Is it for the square cut seals ?
I am having a brain fart about this little wire tool.

Nice job with the speedo sleeve. When I did my 700 I had to get a shift kit to rework the governor so it would shift at the right RPM / MPH. weights -springs ECT.

Do you have to do anything like that with a 2004r ? Also I had to get the TV cable and bracket angle right.
I had to get a wiring / TCC control solenoid kit, because I am not bright enough to scavanage all the parts from the bone yard. DUH... ???
I am hoping you dont have a bunch of little B. S. stuff to deal with.
I love the Hotel towels good perk to have while trying to work this out.

the lip seal tool is for seating the lip seals, heres the cut-away of a few different ones:
silicone-lip-seal-1.jpg
the object is to tuck the seal lips in the hole so the lip isnt folded over on itself and doesnt leak. but a feeler guage sounds like itll werk too....wish i thought of it :blam:

fryday morning i got up early, like 930 am and started to work on the trans, i got alot done in getting it together and testing seals. i was gonna put it together untill i broke a teflon bushing 😢 so i put as much of it together as i could without putting stuff back in the trans case yet. so heres a bunch of pics!
soaking the new clutches in AFT. pretty!

this borked piece is only the size of a quarter, and i have to get a replacement for $5 + shipping :x

and heres almost everything assembled
l.jpg

and thats the progress so far. im gonna need to make something to keep the output shaft in place while i install clutches in the case. so, so far, so good. it should be finished and ready to run in a week or two depending if i can get this stupid teflon ring in time or not.

YAY progress!

Looking good, man.
Some definite progress. What did you use to drive all the bushings in and out with? Also, any changes to the pump...10-vane rotor and vanes? Different boost valves?
Or is this primarily a stock rebuild?

most of the bushings werent bad, and all the ones i did change were teflon or i put in with a wood block and a hammer. as for the pump i reused the stock one and just replaced 2 lil rubber thingys and the outside rubber, and the stator. i was looking at putting in a ligher weight governer so it shifts later but i can always do that later. right now i just wanna get it built so i can drive my damn car!

Lookin good. I got a manual on doing the same thing to a spare 200-4r, but got intimidated.

yeah, i dont think id do this without a video, because to actually see some one do the steps, and reading how to do the steps is like night and day. to say, pull out the stator, and then to watch how its done makes it that much easier. video FTW 8)

a few days ago i started to assemble the trans, and got almost all the way done, and then i looked at the table and saw 2 parts that werent in the trans yet....uh oh! i didnt take alot of pics while doing this because some pieces were a PITA to get to sit right or just assemble in general. so after a lot of swearing and cursing the trannys mother to a horrible stint in hell, i took these:
l.jpg

its almost all assembled!
heres whats left to assemble:

and his is what i forgot :blam:
l.jpg

well its not too bad, i dont have to take it ALL the way apart, just 1/2 way. so thats progress sofar, its looking pritty good.
