yesterday i got some more done on the trans. so what i did was clean EVERYTHING with carb cleaner and put the housing clip back on and put in the new speedo gear and gear housing. i got the entire valve body assembled and waiting for marrage to the trans. up next is swapping out all the rubber seals and final assembly. sorry for no pics but the basement at werk has no air flow and breathing in all them fumes got me loopy. i had to find my old squirrel cage fan i got to move the air around and i wore a mask but its ment for particles , not fumes so it didnt help too much.

Looks like it's coming along well. I grabbed a 2004R for $40 and want to go thru it too. How much do you think you have invested in tools....or....maybe when you're done you'd like to make some money back on them 😀

All I have so far is the ATSG manual. I've also heard that CK Performance sells a nice book on them too.

what i did was buy an tool that came with a video of yer flavor of trans. it cost 144 bucks + shipping and then i had to find the tools and wtf they were named so i could buy them on ebay way cheaper. heres the tools i have an what there names are:
low/reverse clutch remover installer $35-$50 ebay

if you look back a few pages i show the lil cheat sheet for finding what youll need drive and driven gear wise to match yer rearend ratio and yer rear tire size.
so the cost for me is around 3-400 bucks so i saved about 500 bucks doing it myself. but i also had a place to do it and free unlimited towels. the tools imma keep so i can rebuild the th350 i done blowed-up and sell that. i do have an extra lip seal tool if ya want that.

nice to see its coming along, what are you using for the reference building the transmission? like a book or magazine?

The manual I have actually has the Kent Moore tool part numbers in it. You can find the tools by part number on ebay too. If anyone is interested I can post them later on.

Several years ago, my friend had purchased a VHS tape from the same guy. He made me a copy. I may end up having to order the DVD because my old VCR is now defunct.
I did end up taking my 200-4R apart except for disassembling the clutch packs. It came apart fairly simple. However, I may also have to buy some of the tools (spring compressor, etc.) in order to reassemble this beast.
My friend ended up using a feeler gauge for the lip seals instead of the tool.
Are you planning on using better clutches, servo, 10-vane pump rotor, or any of that stuff? I see you did get a hardened stator support, that's a given, even for a stock rebuild.
I'll be following your thread... I also have the ATSG manual. Every little bit helps. Keep up the good work.

well NOW YA TELL ME!
