Looks awesome, good luck with the rebuild!

That last header bolt is tricky, I used some needle nose vice grips to put mine on today.

more progress on getting the thing apart. while taking the rockers off i noticed that 3 of the pushrods had damaged or cruched tips on the driverside. other than that evertthing else was good. i did have to cut out the old headers with a saws-all, but everything else came out like butter. oh, and one question; how the f**k do ya remove the dipstick tube? that thing pissed me off. and now for some pics.

well i brought the heads in to get cleaned and checked, and brought the intake to get the one stripped carb stud hole fixed. they gave me a guess-ta-mit of $130 for everything. now i gotta wait till friday to pay for it and to get a new carb and prolly rebuild my distributer so i can actually have a working tach. anyone else wanna chime in?

Reminds me of the back of my El Camino! Always full of junk!

Lookin pretty good!

Will the dipstick tube twist at all by hand?

If not, you should be able to get a thin chisel or screwdriver edge under the lip at the base of the dipstick tube. Once you get it out a little ways, just wiggle and twist and it will come out. Maybe try giving it a shot of Deep Creep or whatever penetrating oil you prefer. Luckily, you've got plenty of room in there to work. Just go slow and don't break it off!
