Worst Vehicle Ever

I wish most of the K car issues were things like alternators. We did quite a few motors due to pistons hitting the heads and motors drinking oil. Yeah, all vehicles from the 70's weren't great, GM was quite a bit better 2GC, Dualjet, Quadrajet, the Pontiac, Olds and Cadillac V8's were great but I saw a few TH350 sh*t the bed behind all that 165 HP of the Olds 350.

I think my '08 Silverado that was spending too much of my money should be in with this group. It had the 5.3, 4L60, rear end, main fuse box, BCM, ECM, 4wd actuator all fail & had to be replaced. All the battery cables were bad & all replaced. Rockers left the truck before 80K, with a leak that could never be found or stopped on the rear of the cab on the driver side. Countless corroded wires scattered in the harnesses. Many control switches quit working. SRS system components failed making the system non functional (which was good as it had the death bags on the back logged recall). Even had the shoulder belt detonators go off on their own before the full SRS issues. But a good thing, the dash never cracked in my ownership.

My parents had a 88'(or was it 89'?) Reliant. I didn't like it, slow, boring, dorky so it checks those boxes but I think it was pretty reliable. They let me have it when they were done, worth maybe $200 at the time, I only had it for a couple months then sold it and bought a beater 86' Monte LS instead. Way cooler and more fun to drive but I now have a slight soft spot for the K cars, especially a 2 door Reliant like ours, most were 4 doors.

That's a coincidence. I also had a K-car which I bought from my mother for like $400. I totalled it, got something like $2500 from insurance and bought a Cutlass.

A friend had a K-car wagon with a 5 speed. That's actually kinda cool now in retrospect.

There's a K-car for sale close to here. Looks to be in rough shape though and they're asking $2k for it. 😀

Was working on a friend's car and now I've got to add to this thread. 2012 or 13 maybe, Chevy Cruze. Gotta be one of the worst cars I've ever worked on. Not hard to work on but the quality is just atrocious. Dash is lit up like a Christmas tree, electrical issues galore. Some of the wires are so thin and corroded that the connectors just fall off the wires. Everything under the hood was so brittle things just shattered into oblivion when touched. Bad interior that is barely holding up. Drivers seat is ripped, steering wheel is worn down in spots, carpet is ripped where your feet go. Squeaks and rattles abound. I'm told it has an oil consumption problem as well.

Admittedly he's hard on it, but it's got just over 100k miles. It shouldn't be crumbling at the seams. Its like the world's worst Toyota Corolla.

Those are just a factory upbadging of a Daewoo? Like the Aveo and Wave were? If so I 100% believe it. I once sold a brand new 07 Wave for like 11K Canadian pennies. It made a 90's "Doge" Colt feel like a luxury car, It was beyond cheap.

working on a family friends chrysler pacifica. had a werird battery drain issue, wouldn't rev past 2500 at all, and wold chug and buck no matter what i did or replaced. pile of sh*t. front subframe as rotten as well so bad it skewed the alignment.

But on the upside, they are an absolute goldmine as a source for beaters to use at the race track in the buzz bomb class.

Something that needs to be brought up is paint quality. Not sure if it is because of the water based paint but stone chips are a major issue. I just had to fix a couple of real ugly ones. Sucks they use white primer underneath. My 2010 Challenger was worse than my 2017 but still pretty fragile. My old boss buys new GM's constantly, major stone chip issues. Ford's seem to be better.
