Yellow or Red Top Optima

Do the interstates have both top and side posts and who sells them?

I went through this same debacle a couple months back with my truck. Its a big old chevy woods truck with a 12,000lb winch on the front. You can imagine what that pulls from a battery. I went through loads of reading and have had personal experience with Optima batteries.

My general experience is that when they work, theyre great but they love to randomly sh*t the bed for no reason. 5 years ago I would have told you to buy a redtop in a second but not now. Theyre customer service may still be great but the product quality has severely gone down.

My advise is to go to sears and buy a die hard platinum. Its an AGM battery, no spill just like an optima. Its a re-branded version of an Odyssey AGM which is an extremely good name but very expensive. Because sears buys in bulk from them and re-brands them they are about $80 cheaper. The specs cant be touched for the price, they come top and side terminal combo, and are constructed amazingly.

My $.02

I haven't seen an interstate with top and side post, but I haven't looked for one either... I just stock the popular ones..

Interstates AGM Batteries are Optima's (interstate sticker over the stamped in optima logo)...

But the regular wet Interstate's are great.. and usually have higher ratings than most optimas.....

and here's a link to the dealer locater..

Forgot to mention that my battery is mounted in the trunk.

Definately AGM in the trunk! No leaks. And I'd stick with RED top. I would only use a yellow as a secondary battery and not the main cranking battery.

The only place in my area that sells Interstate batteries is Firestone. So I would check at tire shops. But I'm sure they have dual terminal batteries available.
