Well that didn't take long, did it?
Nope. Amazing how all that stuff literally came out of nowhere, and, all of it came right here.

Population is expected to jump around 50% in the next 5 years.

Piss on ‘em. Do what you want where you want. Sounds like your property value will be going up as housing demand increases.

I know a population boom may not be what you want to hear, but use it to your advantage.

I’d find it hard to believe that your property value will a decrease.

I moved away from where I was to get into the rural area removed from all that BS. Then they did all this EV crap and we get this.

Unfortunately, listening to 2 or 3 years of heavy construction, all the traffic, the lack of business and services to support all the people coming in with congestion on roads that aren't meant to hold the traffic? Eh...

If I'm supposed be dealing with all these treatments wanting to just be getting to cancer remission then convalescence, it's just not an environment worth hanging around on. House is paid in full. Down the street one sold for $110k more already than I paid, so, I'm not terribly worried and 'closing costs' aren't a thing with no mortgage.

Short term lots of projects need to be finished off and buttoned up. I'll probably farm them out. Then, maybe we have my wife take a mortgage on this house to give me a pile of cash to buy the next one, or, we just sell subject to suitable housing with a long closing period and hope to have staggered closings. Worst case there's an elderly family friend who was willing to sell us the house she grew up in in western mass, it'd be cheap (under 100k) and needs cosmetics, but, has good bones and is still over 2000 Sq ft. Could move in there, again paid for cash, and just bank all the other money waiting to find a house we like.

Not that I expect much to come of it, but, there's a small online private message board the neighborhood has to talk to eachother, post notifications.

Anyways, long story short. In the long term it doesn't change our prognosis to stick around here. But, I'm going to be leading the good fight against at least latest high density development on behalf of the people who would be remaining here.

There's actually a pretty decent case to restrict thing to a density of maybe 60 or 70 houses instead of what theyve got lined up. Not that that would be good, just that it would be BETTER than the alternative.

Besides, it's not like I'm good for a whole lot more than sitting around and taking medications anyways. Might as well represent the neighborhood for the decent folk who can't head for greener pastures

Tonight the zoning board held a meeting for recommendation on the proposed development next door.

I spoke at length, and, apparently made many friends in the room, and, had many requests to hire me as a result, even though medically I'm unable to take clients and do them full justice.

The developer had nothing to rebut but vague promises that AFTER approval they would investigate and explore the issues that came up.

I then spoke a second time, and called him out on it, stating we had a right to the targeted stipulations being part of the zoning approval, not to let them figure out after the fact during building what they felt was proper.

It was unanimously voted to deny approval as the recommendation to the full board.

That hearing with be July 18th. Then we go again, except, I plan to obtain more ammunition against.

So, there's been a bit of fallout, both positive and negative, based on my recent.... opposition to the rubber stamping at the county level of local development.

It's been 4 years since my last handicap placard, and, they make you bring them in with your license in person to swap them out (I like the plates we have, and, don't want the plain ugly disabled ones.

Anyways, I was recognized by the screening personnel at the entry and at the window counter, which, I'm not sure is a good or bad thing - both referencing that I was 'the guy that...'

Also means might have a little target on the back for others.

Meanwhile, there have been several new offers to sign on clients in the area, which, thus far I've had to put on hold for health related reasons.

Apparently, my description, when not my name, have been circulating through the communities.

If they hate you, at least it's for what you are. F 'em.
So, their hatred was in FULL force and effect tonight. I suspected some hostility, based on people at the commissioners office aka the unincorporated county version of city hall knew who I was on sight when I walked into renew my disability placard - every 4 years, blah blah blah.

So, tonight, the chair of the meeting repeated tried to cut me off, limit speaking, and eventually try not to recognize me. When I mentioned at one point I after he tried to reduce my time and limit speaking, I mentioned I also was speaking on behalf of people who were unable to attend included in my comments. He said he would not recognize that without proof in writing from them, or, someone saying I did.

So, I went to some other residents that we're there, and had them get recognized, go to the podium, and them team the chair they were yielding their time to me as their counsel and representative to speak on their behalf. The other Commissioners laughed at that one, the chair did not.

When our PERSONAL subdivision came up, the guy was being a particular d!ck, so, I waited for a few people to speak, got back to the podium, and, said 'Before I resume comments and objections to the proposed planned unit development, I have a question I'd like to ask you as Commissioners. Do any of you now, or have you had, a relationship with any of the parties to the rezoning, such as the current owner who stands to benefit from the sale? Like maybe being a registered agent for the owner who filed the application, where maybe you shouldve recused yourself from the discussion on this matter?"

As I said I panned the commissioners looking them in their faces, some smirked, and, the chair looked at me and said 'I guess you're referring to me.' And I said, "If you fit that drscription." He said, "Well, I dont vote on the proposal as the chair, so, the county attorney said its ok." To which I replied, "well, you are choosing who to recognize, and how long they speak, steering the conversation in the process. And, youre asking questions and participating in the deliberations. So, I have to respectfully disagree on that one."

And the room erupted in laughter.

So. They hate me even more now. And I'm sure the non-voting chair hates me A LOT.

Meanwhile, of the proposals I brought up, and spoke against, 2 were unanimously rejected as a final decision, and the third (a 9,250,000 SF warehouse project) requested their project be tabled until mid August (their only opportunity to do so without withdrawing it completely) after being caught in lies to the commission that I teed up and drew out their inconsistencies the commissioners then learned about.

So, even though that third one wasn't defeated outright, I'll take it.

Oh, and I'm also quoted extensively by a newspaper reporter who I'm to send additional information regarding my source material who will be writing an article about some other things. So, theres that. I'll have to see what they say, maybe pick up a few copies.
