Hi,

My Cutlass Calais 81 have a real hard rust in the roof, the rest of the body is pretty original with no rust ....but the roof.... my problem.

Well i would like to know how i can repair this really problem for me.

I have a little sandblasting enterprise and i can sand the roof with no problem. But i think is necessary to remove the old roof and put other.

In this case i have two options.

1.- Take other cutlass and cut the roof and put in my car. Work with 4 door roof?

2.- Buy a new roof , in Chile no way, but in EEUU it is possible?.

Thanks and sorry for my bad english.

Wow, that is some serious rust. If at all possible, I would way get a roof off another car and weld that in. Being that it is the window frame, I would think it would be very difficult to patch/ repair. A 4 door roof is completely different. Best luck!

if your roof is that bad, i dont see any way that your A pillars and below arent also rotted out. Id be surprised if that car was worth saving at all

Best to look for another Gbody, this one is pretty much a parts donor now.

Holy sh*t! Thats the worst roof I have seen on a Gbody! What do the floors look like?

Best bet is to go to a junkyard & find a 81-88 cutlass 2 door with a rust free roof & weld it on. You could just use the front half if u wanted. Car looks ok otherwise & interior looks great from what I seen from the pic.

Hi ,

The rest of the body is really 100 % free of rust, in "original condition", the roof was cover with plastic for a years, The interior is perfect, engine and compartment is original free of rust ....etc.....

This car come with floor console, a/c , power windows, power lock , tachometer, tilt column, etc

AND the really NASTY v8 260 with the "little girl" th-200 transmission.

Thanks for your comments...
