It seems g bodies are flooded with 3 major styles of swaps and that's about it. Sbc, bbc and ls swaps. Hell mine is getting a turbo ls so not trash talking, it just starts to get mundane. Anybody have anything really unique they've seen around or better yet done?
I'm thinking after the cutlass is done a possible 2jz or maybe a stroked rb series. If anything it would be worth it just to p!$$ off the old timers and serious American muscle lovers(admittedly I hold a lifetime members card that is sure to be revoked )

How about a G-body with a ~2002 vintage Northstar V8 installed? I haven't seen this but wonder if it has been done?

I've always thought that vintage Northstar (2002) was a unique engine! It really loves to be rev'd and would move a G-body easily! Those engines must also be plentiful and easy to find.

many moons ago ( when these cars were still being built ) a friends dad picked up an x-cab Malibu for scrap. The 305 was seized up but the body was still pretty solid. We swapped in the 250 inline 6 and trans from his rusty 71-c10. To cover up the cab colours it got the "2 tone cheap paint in a dusty garage" treatment. We ( being kids ) swapped in the buckets and console from a GP on its way to scrap. Another scrap car donated its Anson Slots for summer tires. And along the way we swapped in an peg leg axle from something with better gears LOL
Car ran that way for another 10 years as the "hand around" car and eventually a winter beater between friends. It was rust that finally got it and I believe that motor may still be under a work bench somewhere.
It was just enough power to squeal the tires but not enough to get a teenager in trouble

The problem there is the transmission. Those engines have a 60 degree bellhousing (front wheel drive ). Your transmission options are a little limited.

Turbo Zac. That is true. I'm sure though someone determined can make some kind of adaptor plate and make it work. I don't think it would be worth the effort except to be different. I've never worked on those motors but when I see them in a shop guys are usually cursing.

I remember seeing a magazine article years ago, about a Northstar swap into a mid '80s Cutlass coupe. In that swap, they used a beefed up automatic transmission from an S10 with a 60 degree V6. It looked pretty cool. You have to keep in mind that the overal horsepower potential of the Northstar isn't as great as the LS. That's part of the reason why the Cadillac XLR didn't last very long.
On a related note, wasn't there a member on this site talking about swapping a supercharged 3800 V6 with a 5 speed into a G body?

not a G body but years ago during the last century a few of us put a 327 in my MGB. Bent the car first day out but it was quick while it lasted...
