I bought a brand new Demon carb from Summit to try. This is the fairly new one that looks like an Edelbrock. It has a composite main body and is 625cfm. It was $300 which I think is a very good price. I have always been a Holley guy but decided to try it for the price. The Holley 670 Street Avenger is too much carb for this stock 350. It's all I have had since I broke the flange on the 600 last summer. Have not done anything to the El Camino but drive it. The fan speed switch finally stopped working completely. I took it apart and cleaned the contacts and springs. It works fantastic now. I bought new wheels for my 55 so will be using the 17 and 18 inch Coddingtons on the El Camino. I also bought Bell Tech drop spindles. Not going do that stuff till I get it painted and that will probably be next summer. Just finished the body work on my 55 yesterday and drug in a 56 Ford F100 1/2 ton and an S10 chassis. Going to build me a street rod pick up. That's all I needed was another project but traded my 82 Jag straight up for it.

OK, here's my input on the 625 Street Demon carb that looks like an AFB (Edelbrock) style. It started and idled perfect. The road test was impressive. Absolutely no issues on driveability. The tip in is perfect too. Have not pulled the plugs yet. Going to put more miles on first. Had to fabricate a throttle linkage bracket and re route my hoses but still had it done in about 30 minutes. The linkage sits out further than the Holley. Also, you may need a spacer on top for your air cleaner. If you have a stock 350, I recommend this carb.

Also would like to point out the composite main body. I was running a phenolic spacer with the Holley because of fuel boil this past summer. I removed the phenolic spacer since the Demons main body is composite. For $300, I like it so much, I'm buying my Dad one for Christmas

The El Camino continues to run fantastic. Got challenged to a street race by a guy at my local parts store with a V8 S-10. Going to drive around today to find a spot. Probably a couple weeks till we get it on though. I ordered a NOS power shot kit. I have always had NOS on most of my cars and am tatood for life on my arm. Already have the slicks on Welds.

Heck yeah....let us know how the grudge match goes! Stay safe and have a blast with the funny juice!

Good to see a real time review on the street demon! I had a 650 speed demon on my 355 back in the day and i loved that carb....never had any issues out of it and that's when i drove my cutlass daily! It helps since my dad just got his new gm performance 350 long block for his 90 jeep and was wondering what carb to use, i told him a demon and your seat time helps to cement that choice for us.

Yeah, it is very hard for me to change so I gambled. For once it payed off. It is just an upgraded Edelbrock but the smaller primaries really boost off idle response. It sounds like a Q-Jet when it's wide open and I really love that. As far as the race, we both have slow turds but it will be fun. Lol

I found a fantastic spot in an industrial area to race. After some thought, I have a fresh short block 350 on the stand. It has flat tops and a decent cam. I may swap the engines. I could use the Goodwrench 350 in my Salon. I have a brand new set of Edelbrock E Street heads 64cc. I bought these for my 55 but after reading, they are not for roller cams. I was planning on a roller cammed 406 in my 55. I may just buy some Darts for the 55. I have not had a decent street race car in about 8 years so it's time. Probably do some inexpensive upgrades too. Front drag shocks and UMI rear control arm set. I would actually rather buy another G body just to build a semi gutted street car out of. As it stands now, I would drive the El Camino to California tomorrow if I needed to. Hate to mess that part of it up but racing has always been in my blood since I was a kid.

I dug out my posi unit from my shed and got it cleaned up. I ordered a set of Moser axles, studs, bearings and seals, C Clips, and a rear end cover girdle. This morning I picked up a Fel Pro rear end cover gasket. gallon of Trackbite, and a couple bottles of GL5 80/90. It's in the 20s on temp and really don't want to do an engine swap. I may or may not just do a head swap. I'm thinking about it because of the horsepower/torque gain swapping 76cc smog heads with small valves to 64cc and 2.02/1.60. I forgot I had a set of Comp roller tip rockers here. They are 1.52 so I'd pick up a little lift.

An air bag in the passenger rear spring. Undo the front sway bar and some sticky tires will do most of the trick.

I would advise the use of a heat insulator gasket between the carb and intake (about 3/8" thick). They are $20 new from Edelbrock with studs. Holley and Edelbrock carbs really respond to them. The fuel you noticed out of the rear vent could be from the heat soak.

Interior really cleaned up nice.
