So besides G-BODYS we all need a truck sometimes and sick with paying 6k a year for insurance on my Silverado I toyed with the idea of an older truck that would not need full coverage here in the people's republic of New Jersey.
Being in the Northeast I looked for about a year before I found one worthy of repairs. Eventually I found one in Maryland I thaught would fit the bill a black prime unfinished basket case. I wanted a 1 ton 4x4 crew cab utility body with round headlights and when I got there that's kinda what it was. My perimeters were cheep and as clean as possible well as far as rust it only needs 1 rocker however it's not all 4x4 and gm did not put it together last the frame is extremely clean and from about a 77 full time for wheel drive the cab is an 80 2 wd and the bed from 81-87 but all and all in good shape but not finished it only had 4 wheels on it and 35" tires. Not my bag. The 350 ran pritty good even though the carb looked like someone removed the choke with a hammer. I'll post some pictures in a minute

most of the bad things I found were jus not finished or poorly executed as you will see right off the bat there was almost nothing holding the cab on and the brakes he told me he just did didn't work

I love those square body trucks. Dad had a 75 GMC regalar cab long bed (1/2 ton 2wd) when I was real little. 350, 3 on the tree with Hooker headers and Thrush side pipes. White with a black vinyl tonneau cover. It was custom pin-striped at a swap meet by an old skill-man. It was cool. Light blue interior. Black vinyl mat on the floorboards.

You're paying $500 a month for insurance?. You need to have your sweet little daughter go in to make a better deal with the insurance company. I mean who could say no to her...🙂

I had a 70 - 350, 4 speed really a 3 speed 1st was super low for hauling ,

74 - 350, 3 on the tree manual steering (my first car)

And a 77 - straight 6 250, auto trans.

All long beds

Also had a 1992 S10 short bed if that counts

As soon as I retire I am buying a short bed C10 for a daily driver.

Removed the front bumper to fined the rail ends we're cut off to make that ugly thing fit Then I started in on the mechanical oh boy it had a half ton master and booster no perportionin valve and 3/16 line teed off to the wheels not cool! The headers were rotted and I think they were A-BODY fence post exaust and nothing on the front of the motor fit right
