I have been on a few forums that required a valid city/state to accomplish registration. Invariably, the second question asked on many of the for sale/wanted posts turns out to be " where are you located"...seems like it would save everyone a lot of wasted posts...likewise it would be beneficial for people that need assistance/another set of hands/eyes on their project.

Personally, I don't get why people post stuff for sale without telling you where it is...............

"Latest Replies" is my compass for the site as I visit every day or try to. It's a must have.

I like the idea of having registration requiring all areas filled in such as location, etc.

Is it possible to require want/sell ads to require a location/price when they post? Also maybe a minimum post count to sell?

I hate it when forums have "use the search" replies but we seem to be having an influx of new members that their first post is "how do I fix this", maybe have a minimum amount of and introduction and a few more posts before they ask questions that may have been searched?

Some sites I've been on have a minimum activity requirement before the classifieds section even shows up in the lists of forums.

For example, some are 50 posts, some are 100 posts.

If you have, say, 10 posts, then it would show you the tech forums, the off topic, etc, but the name or link to the classifieds would be entirely missing as in you can't even see they exist.

In theory it cuts two ways - keeps random people from joining just to peddle crap, while also encourging activity from those that do join. Haven't really seen a problem with scammers around, but doesn't mean they haven't been either. Just an idea.

I think if you look at the recent usage of the fourms it will be a good survey as to what to plan around. I'm a racer and there is very limited interest here. Racing might work better as a performance fourm.

And will likely blow up or fall apart in the next few years and all you will think of when it happens is

So, why do you think that is and what can we do about it? Do you mean having a separate forum altogether for racing or? Looking for ways to grow the reach.

As for getting location info, nobody will actually do it anyway. Can't really make it required info. Some people don't want everyone to know where their car lives. It states (or it used to, have to check) say in the FS/Wanted description to put your location, but nobody paid attention or cared. Don't see that changing.

Here's a thread about whats new in 2.0, there may have been more added in later 2.x revisions. https://xenforo.com/community/threads/whats-new-in-xenforo-2-0.133426/

Well, I can honestly say that "Greatly-enhanced mobile-friendly style" scares the hell out of me. Most of the tapacrap forums are more difficult to navigate in mobile mode. Maybe I'm becoming an old crust f__k, but i don't mind zooming in to see something.

On a related note: what's up with the Pinterest link on embedded pics? Sometimes you can tap a pic and it blows up, but you (I) can't close it. I have to hit the 'back' button, then you're back in the forum not the thread.
