Hey guys, I have a question on this disc brake conversion. I got the caliper mouning brackets and calipers off the rear of a 1998 Chevy S-10 blazer, bought new backing plates, caliper rebuild kits, rotors and pads for the 98 Blazer. Got the flange ends cut and drilled off gthe 10 bolt and the brackets are mounted up and everything looks correct and lines up good. Ebrake are installed as well. When I went to put the rear rotors on, and they are way too deep and hit the backing plate. So after watching some vids, and reading some posts on here, I think I may have found the issue, but wanted some verification first. The donor blazer was a 1998 4WD, so I ordered all the brake parts including the rear rotors for a 4WD, but it looks like 2WD rotors are installed in all the videos, and by appearance they look shallower. Researching it, they are in fact. Will these rotors fit this fabrication? Or am I missing something. Also, I ordered Moser rear 28 spline axles, but I ordered them for what the car is, 1978 Monte Carlo, not the donor blazer... is that correct? IU figured the same differential is going back in, just different brakes, carrier and gears. Which is all installed as well. No modification to the differental that would effect overall outside dimensions. I greatly appreciate all the knowledge like always guys! Thanks!!

The only thing that cross references between 4wd and 2wd blazer rear disks is the calipers, pads, and the caliper mounting brackets.

The 2wd blazer caliper mounts backwards and the 4wd mounts forward. Calipers will hit the frame if you use 4wd position.

My link posted above uses 4wd cast brackets flipped left to right with 2wd rotors and 2wd backing plates.

You loose the e-brake bracket since it faces backwards but I solved that problem by making new bolt on e brake cable brackets.

I had a zr2 rear in my 2+2 for a few years with 4wd "forward" caliper position, they cleared but the rear was 5" wider than factory. Note forward caliper positon.

The correct position is facing backwards

But I definitely need 2WD Rear Rotors, right? 4WD will not fit. Thanks for the info cutalss, I will see how it fits when I get it all together and if I need to make some modifications I will. Awesome Videos man!!!!

I bolted S10 Blazer rear brakes to my 8.5 in my Monte. Not lowered, the calipers still hit the frame more that once or twice with them bolted to the rear position. They would never make it on the ground bolted to the forward side of the axle. In hindsight, I could have relieved a small area and made it work fine but I have a notched frame which resolves all of this.

Yes, you need all 2wd parts for this to work properly.

Yes you need 2wd rotors. The axle flange to caliper distance is about 2" different been 2 and 4wd

Do they clear 15" rims? I have a complete set up here that I was going to install on my Malibu but wasn't sure if they would fit.
Not sure I have 17 on the front 18 on the rear but from what I recall the brakes calipers are similar in size not sure on the rotors
