I need some of those for my Camaro. The rocker panels always take a beating with body contact.

My Beetles rockers are beat to hell too, and it seems like every one I see has the same problem.

If nothing else, more ground clearance seems to help on Camaros.

I thought the Z71 package would have covered me there.

Band clamps are awesome!
Nope
Never had one not fall apart. If you got a hangar every 1.4 feet maybe. Had to self tap mine together.

A couple days ago, but the Subaru got a new battery. The old one was leaking and I had to jump it twice. I used some baking soda to neutralize the acid and then simple green'd and pressure washed the whole engine bay since it was pretty filthy.

For the battery I went with an 800CCA Optima Red Top group 34. This will be the third battery in this car. First time I've ever had an AGM battery in anything. Should be a big upgrade over the 450 CCA group 25 lead acid battery it had in it. The original battery was only 400 CCA IIRC.

Only time I had one fail was when it wore through and I was basically jumping the car at 100 while turning coming into the brake zone. That track will stress some stuff.

Joe, let us know how that new Optima holds up. I’ve heard some very disconcerting things about the longevity and quality of the new Optimas since the ownership changed hands. My 20+ year old Red Top finally bit the dust earlier this year and I’d like to replace it with another Red or Yellow Top, but have been leery with all the stories of early failures.

There are lots of other choices on AGM batteries. I ran three red tops in my truck (daily driver - 2008) and I won't buy another. It's 12 years old and now has its fifth battery, three of which were red tops. You do the math.

My experience is they don't fit well and don't hold up like they did in the 90's. We had one in Sean's Camaro but replaced it with a much better fitting AGM from O'Reilly (Super Start).

If I had known Joe was going to buy a red top, I would have tried to talk him out of it.

Yes, but keep in mind we don’t have nearly half the selection here in Canuckistan that y’all do down there. I haven’t heard one single quality and reasonably priced option presented for us here yet.
